It's incredibly dumb that the patent system allows patent trolls in the first place. The idea of patents is not inherently bad, being that it grants a temporary monopoly to the producer in exchange for public disclosure of an invention or innovation. But the way I see it, the terms of patents are far too long. A patent should only be enforceable perhaps until a year or two at most after it is approved by a patent office.

I'm not too knowledgeable on the topic of patents and shit so I'm not sure if that would make the system better or worse, but the system does need to change.
Patents are great. They're just abused and people get away with such abuse. That's the issue, not the term length.
