Because, they say they are going to be "focusing going back to their roots."
They may as well start by remaking the old classics in a full 3D environment and I mean, it can't be that hard right? They got everything they can reference back to so it makes it a bit easier.
Final Fantasy Tactics. Not another remake, but an actual sequel. A game with the same tone as the first, not the handheld games.

I thought that while it didn't have quite the depth and openness, DXHR did a pretty good job following it.
They shouldn't remake any Final Fantasy games.
They should remake every FF game and change it so Lightning is the Protagonist of each.
I'd prefer a remake of IX more than VII tbh

Highly underrated game. Would be nice to see it remade.
None of them. They've already had their time. Given how Square is now a days if they remade ANYTHING, it would amount to the exact same game, but with better graphics and unskippable filler cinematics. And some confusing new mechanic to assure early adapters buy a strategy guide too. MAYBE a remade Deus Ex would actually work out.

A good Super Mario RPG remake or sequel I could see working quite well. Of course, I doubt Nintendo would ever allow such a game to be made these days. Super Mario RPG, in my opinion, had quite a different atmosphere and feeling than other Mario games.

Bushido Blade 1 or 2, that game was way underrated. Although I suppose the Deadliest Warrior game is kinda like it.
