When do I become a gold member? - General

I was reading somewhere that you have to have 2 years and 2,000 posts on facepunch to become one, but I saw somebody with a little more than 100 posts and he was a gold member. So, how does this work? I will have 2 years in april

Later he didn't need the money any more, so he bumped the Gold Member price up to $1000. When monkey_123 went on his crazy adventure, Garry disabled purchasing Gold Member completely. New Golds from that point were people who won community challenges. Then Garry implemented the current system of acquiring Gold Membership through staying for two years and attaining two thousand posts. You can't buy Gold Member any more.

You can also get gold if you win a contest which, obviously, will never happen
