This didn't offer torrents, this was one of the first methods of piracy.
Indeed, plenty of other newsgroups still around to obtain your gossip and legitimate software
It's a Usenet site that relied on users paying to pirate, really not that surprising they're shutting down.
I'd try to make a joke regarding this article but I'd probably be banned for advocating piracy.
