Imagine your friends or something walking in on you using this.
Oh god he actually had to ruin it with fucking Fakefactory. And I was looking forward to seeing a playthrough of Ravenholm with the OR. [editline]11th February 2013[/editline] hurr durr high-res
This doesn't seem to work the way OR has been implemented so far, where moving the weapon moves the entire body. It should work well though.
So what if he used Fakefactory mods, its still pretty awesome footage of the OR
the immersion's better when you have higher res textures, even if they are shitty fakefactory ones
I wish people stopped talking about Oculus rift so much, makes waiting for it so difficult. I get a massive urge to buy the dev kit every time I hear of it, but I know that I should wait until consumer version is ready.
They should code it so headcrabs latch onto your face and you have to flail about like a fool in your living room to get it off.

With fakefactory's habit of propshitting everywhere and the enormous creative liberties he takes with the source material I think it's safe to say that the effect is negated. The earlier HL2 OR video (that the bot also linked to) was much more immersive, especially that apartment fighting segment. Even just watching someone play it with the OR made it feel much more real, for me. Or this Black Mesa one:
Imagine your friends or something walking in on you using this.
fuck that I am locking my room and barricading the door when I am gonna use the OR

I think I'm going to need Oculus Rift® branded yellow and brown underwear for this.
amazing that technology has come this far
The moment I get the consumer version, I'm going to get a set up like this and just have a marathon of going through half life. If blackmesa is fully out by then, then maybe start with that. If the interest is there, maybe people could reboot sourcemods to bring Half-life kind of up to par with today's standards and not that shitty fakefactory compilations.
Wish this worked for people blind in one eye. :(
Wish this worked for people blind in one eye. :(
it does you're obviously not getting 3D stereo vision, but 90% of this thing's claim to fame is the head tracking and wide field of view, which will work fine in one eye. what's weird is there have been studies done in which people say they percieve depth a bit more vividly when viewing with one eye instead of two, probably because your brain is compensating for a lack of input and amplifying its processing on analyzing the shifts in perspective more.

I have issues perceiving stereoscopy, causes terrible spacial awareness issues. A 3D platform that focuses on parallax would be amazing
