Anyone who does shit like this can just go fuck themselves.
A woman behind a massive "scareware" scam has been fined $163m (£101m) by US authorities.
Huhh, never would have guessed. I thought only guys were behind this kind of shit.
Y'know what? Good riddance. I've seen those "software" names about occasionally, and I'm glad it's finally gone for good.
My last computer got fucked up the ass from Winfixer. I fixed it but still, good riddance indeed.
Yeah, I fell for one of these when I was 11. Good bye, please let the door hit you on the way out.
Removing these from computers is such a pain, so often I stumble into them whilst fixing other problems.
People who make this kind of stuff are legitimately the scum of the scum of the earth.
As in like double-scumbag shitheads.I hope this ruins her life.
Winfixer Was a bitch to remove. Thank goodness it is gone.
I haven't had a single malware on my PC since 5-7 years ago, and I don't use anything more complex than Microsoft Security Essentials.
You just have to avoid downloading weird shit and browsing fishy porn sites.
Glad she got caught, but $163m? Reallly?
I honestly don't know why I'm being rated dumb, After you're being punished so you learn from your mistakes and eventually so you can 're-enter' society?
But I don't see how anyone is going to be able to pay back 163m dollars in their lifetime.

Yes, they make plenty of money anyway.

Thats a lot of money for one person.
Dont do the crime if you cant do the time
I remember I got something like this on my parents computer when I was just learning to use them at all besides browsing the AOL homepage to check mail and all of that, it was kind of my first foray into learning the ins and outs of computers and software, it was a real challenge at the time and in a way, I'm glad it ended up on my computer, probably wouldn't be so interested in them if that little event hadn't happened.
Good, the people behind this are right fucking bastards.
I'm often having to remove fake AVs such as these.
My aunts computer got one of these ads. It said it had like 5-10 thousand viruses :v:
nothing's ever on any porn sites, where did that stereotype come from
Surfing and clicking on any ol porn is kind of like sticking your hand in one of those bio-wastebins that doctors toss all the needles in.
Oh that's great. I remember falling for one of these when I was little. Good thing I already knew how to format.
Fuck scareware.
If it manages to get onto your computer its fucking hard to get rid of.
Friend of mine had this and I spent hours removing it. HOURS.
I had to manually track a list of two dozen locations and registry entries by using a linux thumbdrive.
