How early should i turn up to a tv recording?

I am going to see Russel Howard's Good News on Tuesday, its a first come first serve basis (they give out more tickets than seats), so its not guranteed. The doors open at 6pm, and it just says 'Try and get there as early as possible'

Has anyone been to a tv recording before? if so, how early did you get there?
