I always thought it was so bizarre that stock prices often fall even when a company exceeds its previous year.
They made over 20% more in sales, yet because it wasn't quite as much as projected, they lose because of it?

Investors will always want a return on their investments, that's expected and understandable. Maybe some investors feel that this performance is not sufficient enough for Amazon to announce a dividend. Or maybe it is simply that they just don't believe Amazon is going as strong as they could be and that they can expect a better return by investing somewhere else.
