Computer overheating, games causing computer to crash, and Windows Aero missing

My Computer:
Dell XPS M1530 (laptop)
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9500 @ 2.60 GHz
4GB of RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
The computer is roughly one year old.
Problem 1:
My laptop heats up very fast. Even if I'm just browsing the internet, the laptop becomes noticeably hot to the touch. After just 15-30 minutes of gaming, the laptop is almost too hot to touch.
Problem 2:
My laptop has been running a lot slower lately. With 4 GB of RAM, I would expect much better performance.
Problem 3:
Recently, I have been unable to play games on my laptop for longer than 10-20 minutes without my computer crashing (I assume it's overheating due to the games).
Problem 4:
My computer crashed today (as a result of playing 1701 A.D.). When I rebooted it, my computer's color scheme was set to Windows Vista Basic, instead of Windows Aero. When I tried to change it back to Windows Aero, I found that Windows Aero was not a listed color scheme.
Heat:
Is the laptop on a solid surface that isn't blocking the vents? If not, put it on one. If so, get some Dust-Off and blow out the vents/fans.
Slowdowns:
Run a virus scan with AVG, MalwareBytes, NOD32, or the like. Also run a spyware scan with Spybot Search & Destroy.
For the slowdown problem I agree with Prismatex
Also for the heat, on top of what he said, you can get speedfan to run your fan at 100% all the time (however, if noise is an issue I wouldn't do that)

Hm... thanks for the advice, I guess. Any idea how to get Windows Aero back?
I've been chatting with Dell Support... a lot of fucking help they've been

Also, I've been trying to run diagnostics, but my computer shuts down half-way through the test.
Fuck :argh:
Issue resolved (kinda)
