"This device can perform faster" When plugging in iPod

Every time after installing my new heatsink I get told theres free USB 2.0 sockets on my computer. I click the Icon and it displays 8 USB ports, now I dont even have 8 USB ports on my computer, and they're all apparently free. iTunes doesnt detect my iPod is plugged in and my keyboard doesnt let me boot into Bios, so could I have done something to my USB drives when I took my motherboard out to install the new heatsink?
