Hello,
I'm plaining to buy a new GPU since I have an ATI Radeon HD 5450 with 2.7 Gigs of dedicated RAM.
Don't ask me why there is so much video RAM, it's simply the fact that i bought a prebuilt PC.
Just in case, here's my specs :
Proccesor - AMD Athlon II x3 440 @ 3.0 GHZ (Planning to buy a Phenom II)
RAM - 4 Gigs @ 667 MHZ, DDR3 (I am planning to buy some more and with better speed, don't worry about that.)
Graphics Card - See above.
Mother Board - Pegatron Corporation 2A99, Socket AM3, One PCI-Express x16 Slot, Two PCI-Express Slots, and one PCI Slot.
Well for sheer power and latest high-end cards, there's AMD ATI 7950 and Nvidia GTX 680. They're expensive, though, and definately over your budget.
I'm doing very well with my ATI 6870, though. It may be in your price range.
What games are you looking to play?
Most likely games like Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, games like that...
Edit :
I took a look to the AMD Radeon HD 7770, dosen't sound that bad at all, i have a resolution of 1280x720, do you think it will run on medium ? Maybe high without AA ?
The Radeon HD 6870 and the GTX 560 perform a lot better than the 7770, both of which are around $160-$180.
The 7770 performs like a GTX 550 Ti but more expensive, so it's not really worth it.
Ok then, I guess i'll go for a Radeon HD 6870, Thank you !
My 6870 goes between 40 and 70 at all times with everything on ultra (minus AA and stuff like that). On high settings it's almost constantly over 60+ fps though.
Also you should check your power supply is good enough. Post us the brand/wattage. It may not be powerful enough to power a dedicated card like that, seen as it's a prebuilt that came with a 5450.
How can I check the wattage ?
Just post the brand and model.
I'll sell you a reference XFX 6870 for £120 which includes EU shipping, i have pictures in hardware trading.
Or take a picture of the PSU.
Chances are your current PSU won't be enough, if your PSU came with the rest of your PC, it should only be enough for small upgrades.
Yeah my PSU is 300w, which is definitly not enough for a 6850/6870, even for an 7770, i guess i need to buy a new PSU.
Antec, XFX, SeaSonic, OCZ and the Corsair TX series (avoid CX series) are all great choices.
I bought a Xilence SPS-XP550 @ 550w, i guess I will be okay for an 7770.
I've never heard of Xilence. I won't say it's complete shit, but chances are it is. Why didn't you follow our advice?
Because it's a bit expensive in Europe, it goes over my budget, and those Xilence aren't bad at all, i'd even say those are good. A good freind of mine recommended me this.
Edit : Those 7770 only requires 450w, the 6850 requires 600w and they are approximatively the same performance.

Newer generation.
About the PSU, you should be able to get other brands for that money. Still, Topower (the ones that apparently, or at least probably designed your PSU) isn't the absolute worst in the world, but they aren't really the ones doing top quality shit. Andyson seems to be the manufacturer of your PSU, but Casing Macron is a candidate too. None of them seems to make PSUs for any reptutable brand (CM apparently made a PSU for OCZ back in 2005, but it seems like it was a pretty cheap model), so I wouldn't really count that PSU for the best buy in the world.
Well there it goes anyways, i got my graphics card and power supply, and I am pretty happy with it !

That's all fine and dandy, and I hope that the PSU will last. I'm just saying that you should've gotten something from a more reptable brand.
