When I explore smb://workgroup/ I can see BEV-COMPUTER, but when I try to connect, I keep getting this error: I set the shared folders on the XP machine to be available to anyone, and to permission to allow anyone to modify the files. I download things on the XP machine because it's hardwired to the router. I want to transfer them over the network to my laptop running Ubuntu. But I can't do this unless I can get help with this error. :frown: I hope somebody can help me out. :h:
Open the "Places" menu and then click "Connect to Server..." the "Connect to Server" dialog box opens. Select "Windows Share" as your service type. In the "Server" blank enter in the IP address of the computer with your shared files. (On the XP machine, go to Run -> CMD + Enter -> ipconfig to get the IP address) Type in the share name in the "Share" blank and click "Connect". That should work. I don't have 2 computers to test with though. :(
This has worked for me, thank you! ^_^
Glad to have helped! :3:
