This is an ageold question:
It is 1933. You are in Berlin, Germany. Somehow, you find yourself in a position where you can effortlessly steal Adolf Hitler's wallet. The theft will not effect Hitlers rise to power, the nature of World War II, or the holocaust. There is no important identification in the wallet, but the act of theft will cost cost Hitler fourty Reichsmarks and completely ruin is evening. You do not need the money. The odds of you being caught committing this crime are less than two percent.
Are you ethically obligated to steal Hitler's wallet?

Yes, because Hitler is Hitler.
Yes, so he wont have his wallet anymore.
No. Because I am not a petty thief, even if I steal from Hitler.

Ethically? No. In fact, I'm ethically obligated to not steal Hitler's wallet.
I'd steal it, and when he noticed it was missing, return it to him like I'd found it, we'd go out for a drink together and eventually I would become his best friend and we'd rule Nazi Germany together.

His wallet?
PFT
I stole his damn TESTACLE.
I need forty Reichsmark
ill steal it, put a note in it that says: ur a fagget, and then un-steal it back in his pocket.
I'd go back to the future and steal his identity.
Nope, I'm not a thief. Who's wallet it is does not matter.
Ruin the fürhers evening?
Count me in.
Yes.
He wouldn't have money to pay the gas bills.

Hell I just thought of how much them reichmarks and wallet would go on eBay.
40 reichsmarks

ℛℳ
No, it's 1933, he hasn't done anything evil yet.
No, stealing is wrong
Henry Tandey, A British soldier in WWI, spared Hitlers life during the war. Having every opportunity to end the budding fascist's life he spared the young Adolf because he was wounded. I am not Henry, if I were in position to steal the man's wallet.... you bet your fuckin' undies I would.
Why wouldn't you? The man is going to become the World's most hated individual within a decade. This shit will sell for millions.
Hell yeah
I would buy Hitler a hooker because he was a lonely man. :saddowns:

Would you act differently if you did not know he would later become the fuhrer of Germany?
In WW1 he was like just any other soldier who lived and died in the horrors of the bloody pointless war. If you killed him as he was wounded then you would have the guilt of killing an wounded man with you for the rest of your life.
Yes, but not because I want to hurt Hitler. Hitler was not even a bad man, he was just wrong. it's like C.S. Lewis says: Immorality is not the same as ignorance.
Stealing his wallet woudl cause him unhappiness and cause happiness to me, the thing that tips to scale (because if I don't steal it, I am generating happiness for him and generating unhappiness for myself)to my end is the fact that I will use it to promote something much better than the Holocaust.
As long as he doesn't know it was me and I don't have to worry about the Schutzstaffel or Gestapo hunting me, then maybe.

But probably not because stealing is against my morals either way.
Yeah, but it's not like reichsmarks were worth shit at the time. The inflation probably didn't slow down until around 1938ish.
I would steal it and keep it as a prize. Eventually sell it at an auction.
