Saw a thread for biggest assholes, why not have one for the most coolest/hilarious/amazing people you've met online in a game? I met two guys in League of Legends last night who were both playing Master Yi on opposite teams, and argued the entire game about who was the real Yi. It was hilarious, and they would always gun for each other in the middle of a team fight. And, as we were about to lose to their Yi who was hammering on our Nexus, our Yi, who was at their Nexus managed to destroy it first because our Inhibitor respawned so their Yi couldn't finish the Nexus. Their Yi was devastated. Our Yi proceeded to taunt in aftergame chat for about five minutes. Honors all around.
In 2007 I met somebody called Elias Max Hiller (He was actually a Facepunch user too, coincidentally.) I saw a couple of his machinimas on YouTube and contacted him to see if he wanted to play sometime or something like that. Eventually we did and he was the nicest guy I'd ever met. He introduced me to all of my current friends and is one of the main reasons I was so big on games during my school years. Two years passed, and little did I know that Max was a long term sufferer of depression. On April 4th 2009 one of his childhood friends logged into Steam and informed us of Max's suicide. He was such a cool guy and it still bothers me when I think about it, even 5 years on.
I met someone called Evasive John on Xbox Live when I played Left 4 Dead 1. We met during a Versus match and we got along. Few days later he joined another Versus game that I was playing and we both sent each other friend requests. For a while we played the shit out of Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Red Faction and a few other games. Always happy and always full of spirit. He was the type of person who could make you laugh after a rough day and always keep that happy attitude even when he got angry. It's a shame though. We've drifted apart and kinda moved on. He was my first ever e-friend on Xbox Live and he helped me talk to others and just generally have fun even if things are down in the dumps.
This one guy I talk too regularly does a lot of (really good) animations, and he sent me some art supplies so I could draw stuff. He's currently traveling the world which is some cool shit.
On Runescape I had my own little 'clan' of about 6 or 7 of us, eventually it got to the point where we only played to hang out with eachother. One of them introduced me to Facepunch, actually. Turns out one of them who everyone else hated actually tried to groom me, backfired though because he bought me a years membership for squat :eng101:
I met one of my now best friends years ago in WoW
I go onto this server in Counter Strike: Source (it's the Mr. Office server so you'll find me playing on it regularly) often, and some of people there are funny as. I got pissed every time I died thinking that the other person was hacking or did some cheap shot. But there is always one guy on the mic impersonating different accents and being a clown. Haha.
I met a chick on faceparty years ago, I was having a shit day so she just come picked me up in her car, we went to this random Turkish bar in the middle of London, we went upstairs, where she signed us in, we went into another huge room where everyone was smoking hash, drinking tea, playin' pool, some dude DJin' off his laptop and a little Turkish man walkin around selling the hash. Then she took us for milkshakes in a place called Tinsletown. One of the best online people I've met.
About a year after TF2 was released (I didn't have my current steam account, I just played on my dad's), me and 9 other people were playing on that habbo hotel custom map. Us blue team would be the citizens, and all we would do for the whole round is run from red team. After a bit, every match started with us piling into the flying van and trying not to get blasted by rockets/stickies. That was such a fun 2 hours.
Some people on a TF2 server were re-enacting the Muffin Man scene from Shrek, voices pretty darn close.
I have a list of my main e-friends on my steam and just generally internet buds I really like. These guys/gals are pretty amazing imo.
Once had a crazy Russian friend on XBL who was simply amazing. No matter what game we played he always went out in a blaze of glory or saved the day. i remember once on L4D we were playing the Death Toll finale, all but one of us were on the boat waiting, mowing down zombies. we were getting over-ran by zeds so i decided to cut our loss and Molotov the port. then as we were waiting on him to die. here comes crazy Russian screaming " YOU"RE NOT LEAVING ME MOTHERFUCKERS" while a tank flung him through the flames onto the boat. Ill never forget that soviet maniac.
The STGYM steam group.
This really crappy game called Face of Mankind brought me so many friends a I have today because of it's small community, and some of them are just the fucking best people.
Years ago, I used to do Radioactivity videos on Youtube and whatnot. This kid saw one, messaged me on youtube (it was amazingly simple back then) and we messaged constantly (this was also during my anti-social years where it was internet people as friends.) We shared skype names, chatted NUMEROUS times on there, and eventually met him when I went to Colorado. Our radioactive collections were large, compared to everyone else. After a while, though, we both got really bored of everyone coming to us with questions about radioactivity (10+ messages a day, if not more) and just stopped it. We still talk, occasionally, but it's not as much as I would hope. He's such a bright kid, he's now doing stuff with nanomachines with a university.
I met a friend through another friend in a gmod 7 server in about 2005 I think it was. For another 3 or so years we became the bestest online buddies and played gmod, WoW and Crysis together all the time. Through him I also met several other friends and we would always fuck around in Crysis while skyping, it was so much fun and something I will never forget. Nowadays we rarely talk to each other because life etc but recently he gifted me the Borderlands 2 GOTY edition for christmas. Not sure if he still visits Facepunch but his name is Poikachoika, and I also became decent friends with Shortstuf7 through him who was a popular mapper for gmod. He made Falleritus or whatever the hell it was called. Poika is def one of the coolest bros I've met online
One of the funniest people I've ever met in my life is on my steam friends list and my facebook. Just wish he knew how funny he was. Wish I could get him out of his shell.
So I rather met this girl on Omegle (fucking I know right?) anywho, we more or less played GTA V. She was nice etc but little did I know that she would become one of the best friends online. We did pretty much everything together and still do. I thought she'd be a random until we really started doing stuff. Now I can tell her everything, vent and she can do the same. We spent doing everything together now, we even spent Valentines day playing fucking GTA V Valentines day update. Right now I hooked her on Gmod and she loves playing with me (as she said.) and I love playing with her. To be honest, I'm kinda crushing on her now because of everything we've been through. Suicidal thoughts, happy thoughts, angered thoughts. I saved her from suicide, I've been with her when she went through a break-up. She's the best girl you could know.
There's this guy that frequently joins DoGz CSS gungame server named "Old Man By The Sea". He cracks me up everytime.
