I miss the days when the cheat commands were available and I could spam missiles.
I think the shader released is in response to the deferred lighting mod

Well that was completely left field. Great to see they've been working on it though.
This should have been fixed a long time ago.
This might have something to do with this update

nifty stuff people have done with Alien Swarm
Shader Source Code, Alien Swarm has object motion blur, would that be in there?
Think I'll give Alien Swarm another spin, it wasn't too bad for a free game
I think they're up to something... something devious, and possibly involving Source Filmmaker.

Or maybe they're finally fixing something that's needed to be fixed since the game/SDK came out.

IT BEGINS.
Or it would if the mod community didn't die out only months after release.

Large scale battles between Marines and Aliens. Yes!
Somehow it sounds familiar..

Versus mode with an RTS alien commander (NS2/Starcraft inspired) and 4 human marines playing like normal.
Does anyone still play this?
This update made me play alien swarm again.
This gives me hope that maybe Valve will start updating Alien Swarm again, it was so sad to see it die
I'd love to what we could do with Source Filmmaker in AS
I wish this game lasted longer. It was a blast to play, and had soooo much potential.

Not really, it has been planned for a while now.
There's now no reason not to use swarm for new mods.

The other one is no Linux dedicated server binaries, but I saw you can run it with no issues under WINE (w/out X Server), so it might not be much of an issue.

According to your Steam profile, you haven't played it in at least the past 2 weeks :v:
Im gonna take a wild guess, but this update is probably some prep for when the Dota 2 SDK is out.
Alien swarm uses very similar SDK and engine as Dota 2.
And Matchmaking system supports mods with more than 4 players just sounds like its meant for Dota 2 since its 10vs10 match making.
Probably just testing shit on alien swarm.
Alien Swarm was the shit, I was so hoping it'd be updated and brought up to the level of the UT2k4 mod's version. It never got very far, though.
Wow, I forgot about this game.
