Window size when playing fullscreen games abnormally small?

It's kinda hard to explain, and it won't show up with print screen, either.
Basically, the screen resolution goes down to 640x320 (Or something like that, I just remember the 640)
when the windows screen resolution is set to the highest possible, 1024x576 (I'm on an notebook.)
And well, instead of the picture being incredibly low-res ingame, the screen size goes small as hell.
(Image in the middle, black in the sides of it.)
It does this in all full-screen games I've tried. (Midtown Madness, Half-Life, Need for Speed Porsche).

So ehh... Why does it do this?

It's a certain video scaling option, but I'm not sure how you change it. For nvidia cards there is supposed to be something in the control panel but I cannot find it on mine. What video card does your notebook have?

Intel GMA 950. (Integrated into the mobo.)

Integrated graphics chip is a very broad term, some are fantastic.
My integrated can run Oblivion maxed. It's a Geforce 9200.

Please, people, re-read the thread.
It's on my [B]Netbook[/B] (Mini-Laptop.) That's exactly why I only play games like Half-Life.
And it haven't always been like this, either. It just seems like som weird setting. And that's what I need help with.

Dude, if I can play gmod on my macbook then you can play your games. I'm on a friggin 2.0GHz core 2 duo and I only have 1GB of ram.

... And how's that related to my problem? This thing's got an Intel Atom 1,6 GHz processor, and 1 gb of ram.

WRONG!!!

i got the exact same graphics card and i can play GMod and many other games on in 1400x900 resoloution so it doesn't explain the problem...

maybe you should set the dx level to 8 because i have to do that or else gomd wont work at all...

... And since when were I trying to run GMod? My CPU is [B]WAAAY[/B] too slow to play that, I'm playing Half-Life 1 for christ's sake (I'm on a vacation this week.), and I can play it, just that the screen size is limited to 640x320.
The netbook screen doesn't even support 1400x900, it's an 1024x576 screen.
Is it really THAT hard to read the OP?

yeah i no that you werent trying to play gmod but i was trying to show what you can do with that graphics card...
