• I replaced my 9400gt with my old 8800gt to test it, not working, help!

I took out my graphics card that I used daily, the 9400gt. It replaced the 8800gt, and since I heard some things about it just being a rebranded version I decided to test it, so I swap out the 9400 and put back in the old 8800. Thing is, when I insert the VGA connector into a VGA-DVI split thing, (you can insert a VGA cable at the back, and the front is DVI) into my 8800gt, with everything connected, I get no signal from my monitor. Since Gateway is fucking retarded they decided to put a permanent graphics card, this little blue thing next to one of the fans. It reads out as a 6150se (I think). When I take out the DVI split and just put in the VGA cord inside the built-in 6150se I get monitor signal, which is how I'm typing this now. I want to know is: How to get monitor connection from my 8800gt? Extra Information: Card is a 8800gt PNY XLR8 Only has 2 DVI slots at the back. Has 1 6-pin connection at the front for power The fan on the 8800gt is running. I lost the Drivers disk, but when I downloaded drivers for 8 series it said it couldn't find any compatible hardware to put the drivers on. I'm running Vista, 32 bit
I'm running Vista, 32 bit
There's yer problem.
it's in the bios. under primary graphics solution change it to pcie and save reconnect the vga cable to your 8800gt and bingo, it's on

Did you turn off the computer before swapping cards? Just getting the retard questions out of the way.
wait what the 8800gt is way better than the 9400gt
Which is why I decided to test it.
There's yer problem.
I knew someone would say that at one point. [editline]06:12AM[/editline] Fast replies guys, thanks!
Did it run with the 9400gt? If so, then your mainboard is unable to see the card.(Means The card is failing, or the connection isn't working right) it could be not inserted right, or somthing like that...
is the power actually plugged into the card, as far as i know the 9400 has no external power.
