If I have XP can I upgrade to Windows 7 for a discounted price, or do I need Vista? How much will it cost? Thanks
I dunno, My school might go from XP Pro to Win 7, but they might not because its microsoft, and they can never make an 100 % satisfactory bug free OS
I just want to know the cost…not if I should.
You can't You would need vista. Just pick up a home-premium OEM copy off newegg. Like 114 bucks USD. [editline]10:38PM[/editline] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116754&cm_re=windows_7_home_premium-_-32-116-754-_-Product
You can buy the upgrade version, but you will need to do a clean install.
No he can't. You can't upgrade from XP to 7.
No.
All editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista qualify you to upgrade. So, if you're running either on your PC today, buy a package labeled "Upgrade".
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-considerations.aspx
No. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-considerations.aspx
Oh. My mistake. Last I checked you could not. But anyway OP buy the OEM copy, It has all the features of a full copy minus the shiny packaging.

If you are a higher education student with an education email, you can get a copy for 30 bucks. (US and UK only?)
