If you have not played Dragon Age Origins, then get it. Great price for the amount of content you get. DAO was one of the best RPG's I've played. I easily have characters with 50-60+ hours on them. Just be sure to stay far way from DAO2, that isn't even a dragon age game.
As much as I hate and fear EA, £4.99 for the Ultimate Edition is a truly honourable steal. It's a great RPG for any price, and £5 for the complete version with all the DLCs is an offer that an RPG fan can't refuse. And it's not like you're giving those slimy reptiles +$60 for this product, so it's not really damaging the industry if you decide to buy it at this price. Besides, BioWare probably still deserves to be able to put at least some bread on the table.
Remember when Dragon Age was good and could be modded? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
Damn it, I always wanted to get DAO Ultimate Edition, but it's locked in Russia, just because EA haven't done the localization for last 3 DLCs.

Jesus Christ, finally. I've been waiting half a year for this.
Wonderful amount of content for the money. Even if a lot of the content is grinding through dungeons full of enemies, it really is an excellent game. DA2 was shit.
please stay clear of DA2 as the writer of it was some fat ugly slag that thinks stephanie meyer is a good writer and based several of the romances in the game off of Twilight esque fanfictions.
I wouldn't recommend buying any Dragon Age games. I did not find them enjoyable.
Dragon Age Origins was a good classic RPG with a lot of the classic tropes of the genre. DA2 was saying "Hey, you know what people don't like? Classic RPGs. Our millions and millions of sales of DAO didn't prove they liked it at all, so lets simplify everything and just make it a Mass Effect clone in every way." What's the worst is even after Kickstarter has proven there is a fuckin HUGE market for a classic RPG and after DA2's horrible failure in the sales department once people realized what it was, DA3 is STILL a Mass Effect clone.

I didn't enjoy Dragon Age Origins when I first played years ago, hopefully I've matured in my gaming tastes enough to enjoy the game now.

DA2 is fine, but it was a rushed project since EA got greedy from how well DAO did.
Since there isn't a Dragon Age thread on the first 4 pages of GGD, what are some good Origins + Awakening mods? I just bought it and holy crap I've had to clear something from my harddrive for the first time since I formatted it a year ago, but obviously mods would make it better.
please stay clear of DA2 as the writer of it was some fat ugly slag that thinks stephanie meyer is a good writer and based several of the romances in the game off of Twilight esque fanfictions.
Actually the Lead writer for both DA:O and DA2 was David Gaider.
I actually liked DA2. The dialogue was actually fairly complex(*). If offered a sidequest, for example, Hawke handles it differently based on the type of dialogue choices you've made so far. If you've made mostly positive choices in dialogue, Hawke will either willingly accept the task out of good will, and will apologize about how his schedule is full or something of you decline. If you've chosen mostly negative choices, however, accepting the sidequest elicits a "Well i GUESS i'll help you out" sort of attitude, and declining has Hawke remark something like "BUZZ OFF RETARD." *:exceptions exist to every rule. See: the romance dialoge. Eugh.

Get this game. It is amazing. I spent about 200 hours on it on alot of different characters and had amazing fun while playing. Also is very moddable and has some great mods on the nexus (I know, but its way better than the bethesda game ones.)
dao is great except for certain parts which are absolute boring fucking slogs, the part where you go into the fade and the deep roads stick out in my mind as being utterly horrible - i'd still sggest playing it as there's a mad you can use to skip the former da2 is ambitious in certain aspects but utter, utter shit in far many more and thank fuck it's not on steam. merril is probably the worst character in any bioware rpg.
