• Multiple issues since virus

So yeah, as the title explains, my computer has been going downhill since I got one specific virus. Got a virus a week ago or something, didn't think it'd be so harmful, wasn't bothering me, I ran a virus scan but it showed nothing. Then AVG started going apeshit, warning me about multiple viruses being in System32, nothing was able to be "healed" since it either didn't "exist" or was "in-accessible". I got myself the Spyware Doctor, and ran some scans, some viruses were found and everything was able to be healed, but AVG was still going apeshit over one specific virus something along the lines of "uymekzy.dll", located in System32. The file was not able to be removed manually, so I had to shut down AVG to stop the spam. I go to sleep and then wake up the next morning to a horrible BSOD, explaining the system had shut down, at once it felt like some serious shit. I turn on the computer, and things were different, I couldn't access volume controls and the firewall for example. I let the Spyware doctor run another scan, but it takes too much time and all of a sudden IE nor Firefox won't work, along with the sound overall. So I've been restarting my computer, fixed the volume controls and IE and Firefox, and here Steam stops working, it just won't connect, I've tried everything in the book to fix Steam but nothing appears to be working, at this time I think the virus or the virus scanner has changed / damaged my internet settings somehow. Now I seem to have another virus, whom the internet ain't saying shit about, called something along the lines of "Ryux3u.exe", which makes internet popups appear with a perhaps 20 minute interval and somehow unselecting the Firefox window when I'm browsing. I'm the most worried about Steam, and I'd really like to avoid reformatting or reinstalling a lot.
Have you tried booting into safe mode? You might be able to do a scan from there
Shall try that later. I just re-installed Steam, or well, tried to. At first, the uninstall did nothing, Steam was still there, but the installer reported no problems, so I had to remove everything manually, and got alot of errors on the way making it even harder. After that I try to install it again, and at the end it just stops telling me that the installation has insufficient privileges to access the directory, what the FUCK is going on?
Whats your OS. You might need to reinstall your OS to go back to normal, but backup your files first
What is your OS? And scan in safe mode if you think there's a virus on the computer, otherwise you might not be able to pick it up at all.
Make sure you get rid of AVG and get a real antivirus.
Go here and run about 4 or 5 of some removal stuff as each app removes a different aspect http://pcsafety.us/website-news/virus-spyware-removal-tools-softwares/
I'm currently using Windows XP Professional SP3.
Have you tried to do a system restore?
Have you tried to do a system restore?
He could try, but it's more than likely to not work. Try scanning in Safe Mode, and then if problems persist you'll have to reformat.
