So... what's the drive to actually explore the new content? I mean yeah seeing new stuff is cool, but it kind of kills the drive if you don't get anything out of it. Even if they implement new equipment with different stats, there's always going to be one set that's the most optimal. If the most optimal items are in the old content, then older progression players won't have much of a reason to explore the new stuff. WoW's style may not be perfect, but it gives you more of a reason to actually explore the new content.
Way to only read the title.
I read the entire article. If they aren't adding tiers or levels, why would I be interested in doing the new content?
I read the entire article. If they aren't adding tiers or levels, why would I be interested in doing the new content?
Yeah, I mean, what's the point of adding new endgame content to a game?
I read the entire article. If they aren't adding tiers or levels, why would I be interested in doing the new content?
Wanting to explore the new content? I mean, with the normal MMO style of progression, what's the point of going back to older content? One of the primary things that they seem to want to go for with GW2's end-game is that you can do what you want, not what the game says is next.
I read the entire article. If they aren't adding tiers or levels, why would I be interested in doing the new content?
It's weird how "Fun" is almost a gimmick word when it comes to MMO content, i buy FPS's for mindless fun, i buy MMO's to have a grindy ever increasing target to reach. I think that's what you're trying to convey?
No shiny lvl80 zerker gear? Anet confirmed for slacking.

I mean don't get me wrong, it's great to have something else do with an alt who hits max level so it's not the exact same thing every single time, but if I'm already max level and I'm not interested in having another alt slog through the first however many levels to get to that content, then why should I be interested in the content? If it's all sidegrades that don't fit my playstyle or character, - or worse, it's the exact same gear - then why would I do the new content?
I'm not really into the grind. I'm in MMO's for the PvP. If there's an MMO without competitive PvP I won't even consider trying it.

Really for me is how much would a new profession + little tidbits give me entertainment wise. So it's just coming down to a price point for me.
In a sense. I enjoy the grind. If I didn't, I wouldn't play MMOs.
That's fair enough, and in that case Guild Wars 2 probably isn't the best game for you. That said, there are TONS of great MMOs if you want a grinding treadmill; is it really the end of the world that some (very few, actually) MMOs cater to a different audience? I couldn't be more happy with the direction that ArenaNet have chosen (ever since the launch of the first game, in fact), and I wish a few more games would follow suit... But not all of them, of course, because then people like you would have nothing to play. There's a balance to be found here.
You dont grind for stats in Gw2 you grind for the new skins that get released. Its Fashion wars 2 baby.
You dont grind for stats in Gw2 you grind for the new skins that get released. Its Fashion wars 2 baby.
You don't grind for stats? What about all the pricy runes and ascended gear crafting?
yes what is the point in raising the level cap in guild wars 2 - a pvp centered game
GW2 is not pvp centered. I'd say it's leaning more into PvE since WvW is still boring as fuck and nothing new has been done to it and PvP is totally separate from rest of the game. And yet there's been the whole living story thing and various other PvE updates. Unlike 1, 2 is a lot more focused on PvE.
Maybe I should get back into GW2, I got it a while ago but never really picked it up
You don't grind for stats? What about all the pricy runes and ascended gear crafting?
ascended gear is pretty much just cosmetic, and "pricey runes" aren't really that pricey at all and are optional for dungeons and fractals. [editline]30th January 2015[/editline] also ascended gear literally came out 2 months after release and was originally going to be a part of launch but they missed the deadline. the people bringing up "lamo anet lied they brought ascended gear" don't have a clue to what they're saying.
GW2 also has some pretty difficult weapons to get that legitimately take tons of grinding. It's not like you're done when you hit 80 or even after gearing up.
ascended gear is pretty much just cosmetic
Hardly. Full ascended set has a noticeable difference compared to full exotic.
Hardly. Full ascended set has a noticeable difference compared to full exotic.
yea except it really is just cosmetic unless you're going to be doing fractals 24/7.
yea except it really is just cosmetic unless you're going to be doing fractals 24/7.
Or ya know, smaller scale WvW. An extra few percent definitely helps there.
