Hey, me and my friend would like to build a gaming PC that is capable of running games like Far Cry 2, Borderlands, Saints Row 2, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl etc. Basically modern games. We've come up with this:

How is it looking? By the way, why is RAM so damn expensive?
RAM jumped in price quite a while ago
change the CPU to the 955, the 65 is effectively just a very small overclock http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/AMD-Phenom-II-X4-955-BlackEdition-Sok-AM3-32GHz-8MB-Total-Cache-125W-Retail
PSU is overkill, http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/550W-Corsair-CMPSU-550VXUK-ATX-PS-2-5-year-Warranty should still have enough headroom for crossfiring the 4890 in the future
You dont need that belkin usb 2.0 thingy.. Dont get the alpha get http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Coolermaster-CM-690-V2-Dominator-Black-Midi-Tower-Case-with-Mesh-Top-Panel-w-o-PSU or http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Antec-300-Three-Hundred-Black-Midi-Tower-Ultimate-Gaming-Case-w-o-PSU
or maybe

get two of those rams because 2 gb isnt much
Firstly you could build that PC for a bit less on ebuyer or novatech and also the case you've chosen is hideous, I have this case and am very pleased with it:

Yeh the 300 is really nice and the cm690.. the alpha is hideous and badly built and really buying a soundcard isnt really that good... there isn't much point for gaming, it's only good for music editing and music composiong and also seeming it costs more then your ram i wouldnt get it and just get a 90£ ram.
Also look out for bundles
Cool cheers, although isn't how "hideous" a case looks opinion (I'm not arguing here, I'm more looking for a "it's honestly badly built" kind of answer)? Also, do you not need a sound card to be able to... you know, hear sound? Otherwise, where is the audio port? I was only choosing the USB thing so I had extra ports.
there's a sound card integrated into the motherboard that's fine for 90% of people, the other 10% spend silly amounts on getting higher audio quality

Or they fine a nice stereo in there basement and use one of the many sound cards that they have laying around for some reason.

Ah right thanks.

By the way, are most of the parts (apart from the case, USB ports and sound card) a good mix? When it came to the network card and the motherboard it felt a little like I was picking at random (apart from RAM frequency etc).
More RAM
No soundcard needed because the build in one is fine.
I suggest another motherboard, there's a lot of cheaper ones who still give the exact same performance.
Why do you have an additional lan card build in, the motherboard has one.
And unless you have a shitload of USB powered USB devices, you dont need a card for that either.

I know.
I know.
Ok.
Ok, I never knew that.
I have a shitload, plus it's only £13.
No.
The P6T series I use has a buildin Realtek HD Audio card, which is excellent.
RAM clock doesn't really matter, as RAM is really over the top right now and you won't notice that much performance difference. The current state of speed is really the HDD, which has always been the bottleneck, getting a raptor or an SSD would get you a lot more speeds, albeit more expensive.
Swap the fan out for a Gentle Typhoon.
Also get a Spinpoint F3

get out fanboy

Where can you get a similar mobo for much less than £55? You may get one for £50 but not really any less
