i love the 3D so much on my XL i will not give it up
Pokémon already had awful 3D capabilities since for the things where 3D was actually available, the framerate went down the gutter and the effect itself was so weak you would hardly see any depth.
I kinda felt like that 3D was just seen as what it is, a gimmick, during development of that, and actually was happy about it since I'd rather have them just treat 3D as a secondary priority rather than allocating a huge amount of resources just for a feature a small fraction of the 3DS owners use.

The game's framerate dropped everywhere even without 3D on. It's not so much that it was dropped because it was pointless...Gamefreak is legitimately very, very lazy and a lot of things most likely had to be rushed through just to meet the worldwide launch. Hence why there were a few bugs in places (and a huge gamebreaking one) and why the game feels very barebones compared to the other games.
and like I said before, the game's framerate goes low even when you're not playing in 3D. The only places where you could actually use the 3D (like in Shimmering Cave and the Elite 4) went just fine.
