I'm trying to host a stable server for me and Treelor (And anyone else who wants to) to play Freelancer Independents on. However, when I try hosting it it uses my normal LAN IP. My computer connects to the internet via network hub.
You have to make a lan server not an online server ... If not make sure that your hamachi is working (ping your friend . To do so right click to your friend on hamachi and select ping) if there is a respond there should be no problems ... If it does not then your hamachi network does not work properly ..
Why are you using some shitty closed source "VPN" software, when you could just as easily foward the correct ports unless there are artifical limitations to only allow Class C Addresses in the application you are using.

Some pc games don't have online anymore ... Age of empires 2 for example only has LAN and can not be played online ... And Warcraft 3 is shit when you try to play a normal 1v1 game thanks to all custom players.

You foward the ports it uses to the host computer, it should work unless there is artifical restrictions, or if it uses a certain protocol.

Do you have any clue what you're talking about?
The master servers have been shut down long ago for those games, and some games have no means of connecting to specific IP-addressees and are fully dependent of the in-game server browser.
There's nothing wrong with hamachi.

You are playing sub par games if they have a LAN broadcast option but no Connect To IP option.

It's closed source.
It might be a virtual network but it's not private.
How do you think they are paying for the servers?

You must be using some warez version of AOE2 because you can do a direct TCP/IP connection by typing the server IP in a box without any issues. You don't need a master server to do that.

When some one wants help saying them to simply not do that is fucking weak. And Hamachi is not free so how do YOU think they really pay for the servers ?

Hamachi is free for non-commercial use. But even if that's so, it's still a shitty program. It's full of exploits, it's slow and redundant compared to an OS level VPN connection.
I don't give a shit what method you think is best, Hamachi is the only way we're able to connect. The Freelancer master server is down. There IS a third party patch that lets you see other servers using it, but I don't understand how to get that working for my server and I'm guessing there would be more problems like this if I did that.
Bottom line is, I want to know how to get my Freelancer server to use the Hamachi IP (5.227.129.135) instead of my regular LAN address (192.168.0.147).

You must set Hamachi as your primary LAN adapter.

Ah, cheers. Will this affect my connection to the internet or anything else?

Well its basicly using internet to connect you 2 so yes it will slow it down but its not noticible.
