Sound good, here's hoping this game helps make the pirate genre more appealing for publishers to put money to.

I thought developers were against pirating?

Hah, funny :v:.
But I mean before this game, the only known pirate games were the Risen series, anything related to Disney's Pirates of the Carribean, and Telltale's Monkey Island series.
But since Lucasarts games went the way of the dodo, and Disney would rather a constantly drunk Johnny Depp than a charming protagonist, and the Risen series is generally considered mediocre.
You're best recent pirate games are a Pirate RPG that takes a wee bit from PotC, or any of the PotC games. Or replaying the Monkey Island games.

I know these are old now but there's always 'Sid Meier's Pirates' if you haven't played that: http://www.2kgames.com/pirates/

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. There was also the Tropico Pirates game as well.

I'll give the Sid Meier game a check and try to get a hold of it to experience it myself, I enjoyed Civ 5 and the expansions, so I can say I'm kinda familiar with Sid Meier.
Otherwise yeah those are old and of course Tropico and Sid Meier went on to other things non booty and scurvy related.
