I got COD5 today and my computer is too old to run it without lagging all over the place. So I went downstairs onto my dad's computer which is top of line and such and installed perfectly but as soon as it starts it crashes to desktop. He uses Windows vista 64 bit which is what I think is the problem, not too sure though. I installed the patch and it didn't work. Please help me out here
TRY SETTING YOUR COMPUTER TO 32 BIT AND SEE IF IT WORKS Edit: or buy better hardware Edit: or reinstall
TRY SETTING YOUR COMPUTER TO 32 BIT AND SEE IF IT WORKS
I'll try that when I get back on there. Edit: No dice. I'll try checking for the latest drivers and if that don't work i'll try reinstalling.

Aww fuck, installing the new update was messed then I installed a previous one now games don't work anymore. COD5 says "DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error. Check the readme for possible solutions" and I was testing on fallout 3 and it says something about gamebyro. Need help quick! Edit: Oh nevermind I installed DirectX from the cod5 disk. That was close. Trying your theory now, Bladerunner1 Edit:
I had this problem and it seemed that setting my sound to 44100Hz fixed it. How did you do that though? I am trying to fix my brothers xp comp. I am used to vista and don't know how to change the hertz level in xp.
A friend of mine had the same problem. needless to say, it was fixed by installing DirectX 9.

Try using the DirectX Web installer, you can get it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en If that doesn't work, try updating your graphics drivers.
