Wow, I bet that it took some extreme technological maneuvering to get this going.
I mean, that's what those useless dicks at Maxis said.
Some serious engineering is taking place here.
Comparable to the Apollo space program, Manhattan project and CERN.

This man obviously deserves a nobel price for all the serious engineering he's done.
Viva la revolution!
I can't find it now, but on reddit, do you know how he did this?
There's a .package file that changes literally one thing:
DEBUG=0 is now DEBUG=1 in its variables.

Which is why it's a very roughly support version of offline play, it was meant for internal developer testing.

WOW
This guy must be some sort of super master programer or something, what with editing one line in one .Package file
Wow I guess that means All the work is now done and Maxis can make our offline mode now right?
DURHUHUHUHUHUHUR

point is it's possible and already existing within the game.

Yes, the possibilty to go offline exists, but without the ability to save or use most of the features of the game.

Except the guy in the video states he can save his progress and changes and the game loads them up just fine later.

So everything but the unnecessary and almost nonfunctional region resource play is there and works.

That's because his saves are actually uploaded to the cloud.
Although, the save does temporarily exist on your computer before it sends it to the cloud.
Here comes the shitstorm.
Ahahahaha up yours EA
I wouldn't have been as mad at maxis if they had just explained the situation truthfully rather than lying through their teeth about so much.
Whoa...EA's latest DRM was cracked? Oh my god, the sky is falling.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was cracked, but a crack implies that a pirate altered the game client specifically for that.
This just took an .ini file edit or two, apparently.
