Ye landlubbers can't stop pirates from roaming the open seas!
yeah because that'll help
Atleast we have our weed. And besides, everyone in the Netherlands just goes and uses a proxy then anyway.
But these "Piratenpartij" members are hilarious.
www.fucktimkuik.org and there we go, "disaster" averted.
A message posted on the Dutch Pirate Party's homepage described the most recent rulings as "a slap in the face for the free internet".
lol yeah freedom to pirate shit what a tragedy
lol yeah freedom to pirate shit what a tragedy
lol yeah the government being able to censor so indiscriminately what a great thing
lol yeah the government being able to censor so indiscriminately what a great thing
It's not the government, it's a private organization working for the media to do this shit.
The gliding scale of internet freedom is a glippery one.
Hey guys, How about we just shut down the whole internet so that NOONE pirates anything? You can't stop pirates, no matter how many sites you shut down they're also be a way around it. Hell, I bet piracy'll still be around AFTER they shut down the internet...if they do, that is but i wouldn't doubt it with all of this CISPA, ACTA, PIPA, SOPA and that law that's gonna be enacted July 12th.
lol yeah the government being able to censor so indiscriminately what a great thing
lol yeah indiscriminately the #1 pirate site which thumbs its nose at international copyrights and specifically encourages piracy totally indiscriminate they just tossed darts at a dartboard man and banned whatever came out
You can't stop the flying Dutchman
Deep packet inspection is highly illegal but this fine because its court order. Yea sure seems fair.
No Windows, no Pirate Bay, no Wolfenstein 3D. Sucks to be German. No offense.
That's the country next to it pal :p
Weren't we the second country to get Net Neutrality in the law? Whatever happened to that?
Weren't we the second country to get Net Neutrality in the law? Whatever happened to that?
It's only just being put into law and it has an exception for court orders.
lol yeah indiscriminately the #1 pirate site which thumbs its nose at international copyrights and specifically encourages piracy totally indiscriminate they just tossed darts at a dartboard man and banned whatever came out
What people don't get is that this is just the beginning. I don't deny that piracy is illegal and that the Pirate Bay does help piracy a lot. But if they can successfully censor one site, they might realize they don't have to stop there. Soon they will start censoring other sites, like political sites or any other site which is legal but goes against the governments interests. Eventually we'll end up just like China. But what most people don't understand is that piracy doesn't actually harm the industry. On the contrary, we buy music, movies and games more then we did before. And there are several unsigned artists and bands whom released an album or two on Pirate Bay themselves and they have become very successful.

The Western European societies aren't going to turn fascist because of them censoring a website that distributes torrents (that by the understanding of most politicians is theft). [editline]11th May 2012[/editline] Especially not when governments could easily be voted out during the next elections, plus the fact that there aren't any singular government interests and that they will have to be voted for by the parliaments which are composed of members from several parties who all want different things.

Yes, the police have abused their power at time, no it is not indicative of police systems in western countries. If people want to release stuff via torrents, that's fine. It's a perfectly valid method of disseminating files. What isn't right or proper is a site that laughs in the face of copyright law and purposefully flips off anyone that asks them to remove torrents to things they own by skating around the law and then claiming they're not doing anything wrong. You can cry about the legality or morality of banning piracy all day but the simple fact is that it certainly is not intended to help, it is illegal, and it is immoral.
but TPB doesn't host the torrents, its just a mirror site
but TPB doesn't host the torrents, its just a mirror site
Boring overused excuse. They are culpable for the content they actively host and promote, which is aiding in the commission of a crime.
What's far worse it that Brein basically banned the piratenpartij from giving hints at how to evade site-blocks.
No Windows, no Pirate Bay, no Wolfenstein 3D. Sucks to be German. No offense.
This is only for dutch people, not whole europe.
What's far worse it that Brein basically banned the piratenpartij from giving hints at how to evade site-blocks.
I don't see how this is a bad thing
Atleast we have our weed. And besides, everyone in the Netherlands just goes and uses a proxy then anyway.
agreed, funny since you could still view and use the pages in google translate. the weed man, oh yeah.
Dutch Parliament: Downloading Movies and Music Will Stay Legal PS: you sound like a fucking douchbag.
just because it's legal doesn't mean it's a right you're not losing any freedom PS guess how many shits I give about some kids being upset they can't pirate their games [editline]11th May 2012[/editline] also the point still stands because you still can't normall access TPB even if it's legal to do so enjoy your "freedom"
just because it's legal doesn't mean it's a right you're not losing any freedom PS guess how many shits I give about some kids being upset they can't pirate their games [editline]11th May 2012[/editline] also the point still stands because you still can't normall access TPB even if it's legal to do so enjoy your "freedom"
I doubt the point here is that "some kids" can't pirate their games anymore. It's more about the fact that BREIN can just censor websites as they want now.
