They cut Mafia II the fuck up. All those minigames, locations, abilities, and half the fucking storyline was cut.
It was a fucking disaster, and they dared to sell some of it as DLC.

I'm kind of bummed this isn't the most Italian game ever made though. I loved the amotsphere in the first two.

As much as I love the Italian Mafia setting, I can't support their decision to mix it up enough. This looks amazing.

Yeah I guess, but there haven't been a lot of Mafia games or games with similar settings so I'm not bored with it or anything.
Also it's called Mafia III, I can't help but think of the Italian mob when I hear Mafia.
Again it looks decent and I'll definitely give it a chance, I've been dying for another one of these games.

Looked super nice. Really enjoyed II even with all the flaws. Looking forward to it. Setting and characters seem neat, soundtrack's going to be radical.
The only thing I'm not 100% on is the main dude's voice. Doesn't really seem to fit. He sounds like Danny Glover, I was half expecting to hear him say "I'm too old for this shit" at the end of the trailer.

I think the reason people are so mad about Mafia II was they announced it in 2007 and showed gameplay shortly after that. A lot of that stuff was far from finalized, it didn't come out until 2010.
1968 New Orleans sounds so exotic. Maybe I just missed them, but I think there is a serious lack of games set in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Imagine a new No One Lives Forever, or Remedy finally made Dick Justice.

Problem with the cut Mafia II content wasn't that they had bad ideas, but that they ran out of time & money to implement the ideas.
That's what pisses people off, since many feel like they would've gladly waited longer and paid more in return for a much in-depth game with the same setting.

The driving physics look horrible, and everything explodes when you touch it. The gameplay they showed was riddled with bugs.

Driving looks fine to me, I do sorta agree that the parts where he rams his car into other cars and they all explode is sorta dumb though.

They cut the story in half. The final mission you play isn't even the ending. There's even more chapters than you think. They cut more than half the game alone.
