FYI: sometime this year the developer of this is going to update it with a pretty large update that adds at least one new race, new ships, several new subsystems like cloning bays, generators, shit like that It's a really good game on its' own but if you're going to get it you might as well get it now More info from the dev's site
uuugghhhh, when is the Advance Edition going to come out?
Just bought it. This game is bretty gud. A bit brutal for first timers though.
Why couldn't it go -75% like that one time last year..
Just bought it. This game is bretty gud. A bit brutal for first timers though.
I made it to the final boss on my first play, but then I got my butt whooped.
Buy it. It's brutal, unforgiving and fun as hell, and the modding community besides being rather small has already released some good mods that notably remove the annoying last boss and instead throws you in an infinite amount of worlds.
Fucking ass game. can't beat the last boss on easy. Tried like 15 times now.
You do realise that "Easy" on this game is hard :P
True that, although some of the difficulty is tied into the RNG surrounding Evasion, as in depending on the ship's Evasion factor, your attacks have the potential to miss, which can be kinda frustrating when your missiles keep missing. Top tip for taking out the randomness factor early on: if you have enough firepower to get through someone's shields, shoot for the cockpit, since whilst the engines add to the Evasion factor, a ship simply cannot dodge if the cockpit is in the red, leaving you able to hit without a miss chance until the cockpit is repaired. Follow that strat and you'll stand a much better chance without the uncertainty of RNG standing in the way of reliable shots, even if it's tempting to attack their weapon or shield systems first. If you succeed the initial hit rolls to break through the shields and hammer the cockpit down to red, then you'll have probably a "round" or two to take out the appropriate systems depending on how quickly your weapons charge, and in that regard you should almost always keep someone in the weapons room so they can level up and further decrease the required charge time on your weapons, increasing the number of attacks you can get off whilst the cockpit is disabled. I've spent about 20 hours with FTL, not as much as some folks, but I've learned a fair few important things that increase your chances of survival in the wild disarray of a besieged galaxy, though luck is definitely still a factor in most other regards, like what encounters you come across, what items are in the stores, what kinds of resources you gather, etc. So all in all, heartily recommend if you're into the "rogue-lite" semigenre even before the coming "expansion".
Infinite Space mod is best mod
Infinite Space mod is best mod
i agree. this game would be much more fun as an "open world" rpg, with what it is now as like, the ending or something after you fuck up the rebel's plans. as it is right now you're thrown into the game with no lore or anything. it's kind of silly.

Also if anybody legit doesn't have enough dosh to buy the game hit me up. First come/serve
Oh, and by the by, can someone do another FTL thread, since Teh Zip File's one has been dead and locked for a long time. Also I almost feel as if the Drones subsystem should become mannable, in addition to crewmembers being able to level up in Drone XP so they can improve its efficiency, similar to all the other manned systems.
Still can't beat the game. 24 hours played, full crew, fully upgraded cloak, all weapon slots filled, 3 shields, 40% dodge. I still get my ass handed to me in part 2 because of those faggot robots that teleports into my ship and destroy everything AND makes hull breaches every god damn time.
Partially that's just luck of the draw, but concerning the Boarding Drones were you able to pick up any Mantis or Rockmen? Those races are good for combat, with one having better DPS and the other being a good tank. Alternatively, it helps to upgrade your doors so you can keep the Drone delayed long enough to give the ship the old "Rochambeau", by which I mean take out the cockpit and neutralize the drone systems so that they can't send in any more drones after you've dealt with the first one. Also for "quality of life" in terms of knowing your enemy, I advise investing Scrap into sensors as well so you can see inside the Flagship. Also we really need a new FTL megathread, especially with the Advanced Edition coming sooner or later.
Finally killed the flagship with the Zoltan B ship(Naether)! This ship is kinda OP
