hnnnnnngh, this has been pissing me off so bad lately.
Sometimes in TF2 I can go all day without dropping off of VAC or the item servers. And then I'll log on the next day and it'll be unable to play.
I'm entered in the ETF2L competition and really want to get this fixed. I've tried connecting into my modem directly (which does not have a firewall installed), disabling the Windows Firewall, disabling Avast Antivirus, etc.
I don't have hardly anything else on here. PLEASE help me! щ(゚Д゚щ)
Almost all steam problems can be solved by following these steps:
1) Go to your steam folder. (C:\Program File\Steam)
2) Locate clientregistry.blob
3) Delete it.
Steam will re-acquire it for you. At most, you will have to re-enter your password.

I'll try it, but remember that this was after a full OS reinstall, so in all technicality I've already tried that.
Did you try disabling Steam Cloud? Might be it if it's item server related.

Not a bad idea. I'll give it a shot.
EDIT: I'm still dropping. I'm gonna update my ethernet drivers and see if that fixes it.
Bumping because apparently there's some kind of hidden rule about not talking about this kind of shit.
I can't get help anywhere from anyone.
If you're in the UI beta, opt-out of it. Apparently there's a slight bug that sometimes prevents clients using the new beta from connecting to VAC.

:O THAT MIGHT BE IT...
I'll try it.

Looks like it's fixed for now.
Thanks for the idea!
Glad to help!
