If I preorder the game there, will I get a steam key for it? I know I'm going to buy the game at some date anyway so I might as well get a good deal out of it.
You don't get a key for the game you choose, I know that. I just preordered and it gave me a download manager for Max Payne 3 that downloads over HTTP.

As much as I want this game, I'm going to wait until after release to purchase. You never know in today's market how the game will turn out.
Well the site won't even show me the list of the free games and I can't continue without picking one, so I'm probably gonna end up having to buy it on steam through a US friend because of valve's $1=1€ bullshit

Isn't the port being handled by the same guys who ported Max Payne 3?
I mean, it's still more than enough reason to avoid pre-ordering. But there's enough evidence on the table to be confident in the port.

I was going to buy it anyway, so why not do it now
And this is the only way I can play it, even if it runs like shit it's better than nothing, plus eventually I will have a PC that will be able to max it out, just like GTA4
If I farmed up trading cards and sold them all I'd probably have enough money to outright preorder this on PC.
But I'd much rather wait to see if the port is gonna be any good.

Why though? In both situations - those being physical and digital - you own the game prior to it being released, and in both situations you actually acquire it yourself the day it's out. Whether that means waiting for however long to download it, or traveling however far to pick it up, it's still the same end result.
Unless there was an option to pre-load it, then that would remove the "waiting for it do DL after release".
I preordered GTA V because I like to live life on the edge.
How great would it be if Red Dead Redemption was the free game, one can only dream.

That's true, I guess it really comes down to how one views games as a whole. If it interests me a little, I'll keep it on a mental watchlist, if it interests me a fair bit, then I'll pre-order it to get it "out of the way" sort of speak. Plus I've never been burned by a pre-order purchase, so my stance on the whole thing might be a bit biased. :p
