so, i've been looking around for a new graphics card, since my old PSU died yesterday so decided that i might as well upgrade both the PSU and GPU as i currently have a nvidia 7050gt or something shit like that.
currently, an ATI Sapphire 4870 512mb seems to be the best option for me, and most reviews seem to love it, but i might as well ask here too, as presumably some of you have had experience with this card at some point. also there's the matter of the PSU, the specs on the 4870 say i need 500W, but i don't want to get another shit one, nor spend a huge amount, i.e no more than £60 so suggestions for this would be appreciated.
tl;dr: is the ati sapphire 4870 any good, and suggest a good psu for it
It is a great card, however, you may want to consider the 5770, which is about the same as the 4870 in cost and performance, but has Dx11, eyefinity, and will (almost definatley) get better when new drivers come out.
The 4870 is a great card, I have one but I would suggest spending the extra ~£30 on a 5770 because of dx11 and eyefinity, that's if you can stretch to it.
also Get this psu OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w it's from a good brand and is modular, meaning less tangled wires in your case.
