I hope Sims will call each other by name.
Well this pretty much confirmed it. They've removed all other features and just replaced everything with emotions.
I hate how they're pushing this emotions thing. Then again, I think they're just assuming we know what to expect in the full game since we've played the Sims 2 and 3 base games already.
The only emotion i will feel if buying this is disappointment and rage like a game case of emotion
I have this feeling it will be a shallow system that just sugarcoats the same old DLC-cutout content. I hope I'm wrong.
Now your Sims can take self-photos just to show how ~expressive~ they've become. Just what I've never wanted.
am I just being retarded or what but I thought that the sims in 3 you know, had emotions? how is this a new feature
am I just being retarded or what but I thought that the sims in 3 you know, had emotions? how is this a new feature
sims would complain if their mood was low or not complain if their mood wasn't low, which was also in sims 1 and 2 and there were 'emotions' in conversations between sims in the third game (if you made an unwarranted flirty action the other sim will react negatively and the conversation emotion tracker would say 'X Sim is Creeped Out') this looks like they're making it so sims behave differently according to emotions rather than moodlets or how many wants you'd achieved recently
Like if someone takes a shit on your porch in the morning you'll be in a grouchy emotion all day. However you can do stuff to go back to normal. I can see how it adds more depth and I guess it'll give you more to do.
I once had a sim order a sandwich at a restaurant in 3 and it was SO DAMN GOOD he didn't forget about it for a week, he was ecstatic over that sandwich, it was the greatest thing to happen to him, his son was born during that week and he was already over the excitement of that before he forgot about the damn sandwich.
i drowned all my sims and stopped playing
are people really still upset over the loss of pools
the trailer doesnt show anything about how this "new" emotion feature leads to deeper gameplay, it literally just lists different moods sims can get. and yes, there are some new ones shown in the trailer that the previous games dont have, but the previous games have this emotion shit ea is trying to push as some revolutionary new concept. 20 bucks its gonna be 90% identical to what it is in sims 3 but with some new emotion states.
are people really still upset over the loss of pools
everytime the sims posts something on facebook, someone has to comment about it
The sims is never worth buying ever lmao, holy shit. Buying the DLCs is not feasible, and buying the base game gets you nothing. Can they show...something else??? You can just feel that the game is going to be as shallow as these trailers, and in 2 years the game you expect is going to cost $200 and the demo is going to cost $40.
Have you ever actually played one of the Sims base games? There's plenty to do, all of the expansions are completely optional.
Yes I've played every single one of them base and personally own Sims 1 and 3. There certainly is stuff to do, but it feels hollow, as though there is other stuff you should be doing (that doesn't exist). [editline]30th July 2014[/editline] Also pay-shops in a sandbox buy-to-play game lol.
Sims has had a payshop since 2. Take off your nostalgia goggles.
Sims has had a payshop since 2. Take off your nostalgia goggles.
...where is it that i am championing any of the games??? [editline]30th July 2014[/editline] yeah no i'm specifically talking about sims 2 and 3's payshops, haven't looked into what sims 4 will have.
Why the fuck does it matter? The payshop is completely optional, and you can turn off all the ads in Sims 3, it has no affect on you.
Neverfuckingmind. There are plenty of people that share the same sentiment, none of which are going to be found in a Sims 4 thread.
...where is it that i am championing any of the games???
When people bash Sims games they seem to conveniently forget that there have always been a ton of ex packs, they've always cost $40 [sp]when they first come out[/sp], that a payshop has been around since 2 [sp]that is entirely optional and really only if you like stuff packs...a lot[/sp], that every feature in every ex pack that was in the previous game is not going to be given away for free in the next base game, that, yes, five years after a Sims game comes out it's going to look stupid expensive since it has 10 ex packs out by then [sp]along with all the free patch content that comes with each ex pack[/sp]. It's like people got the Sims 2 Ultimate and just forgot how shit actually works.

It's like people got the Sims 2 Ultimate and just forgot how shit actually works.
No this is all very valid and whatever but you seem to think that I'm saying it was any better at any other point in the series. They've had the same business strategy since Sims 2. You just assumed I was jumping on the bandwagon and somehow separating EA from 8 years ago with EA today. [editline]30th July 2014[/editline] The "paystores are optional" party conveniently seems to forget themselves how the business model works. It's a nice quick snippet that you can say, but it's about 1/16th the full story. If I feel 100% satisfied with what I have, why would I want to buy anything from a paystore? That's the worry people have about paystores. ALL paystores. It's just a worry, but it's a valid one.
The store in Sims games is just clothes, hairstyles, furniture, and the occasional world (Sims 3 only), it's there as an option for people that want more of that stuff, that's all it is and all it will ever be, you're trying to turn it into something it's not. How satisfied you are has jack shit to do with anything, practically everyone is satisfied with Dota 2 yet they have a payshop too.. and it's all cosmetic shit like hats.
You want me to keep going? You aren't getting it, and you are making sure that I know that you aren't getting it. For one, Dota 2 and Sims are somewhat different in that half of the Sims is about aesthetic, cosmetic shit "like hats", whereas they are exclusively bonus e-dong extenders in Dota (don't worry, I extend my own e-dong in TF2 all the time, I can sympathize). Also Dota 2 is free so I'm not sure... whatever. Point is, shit doesn't apply here. Okay see this: the company, dev, publisher, etc wants people to spend more money. Money is nice. If there is going to be a payshop, are they going to want to make sure their game has a lot of content in it so that everyone likes what they get after the initial purchase, or are they going to leave some things out, dev less content for the vanilla game, and expect that people will feel they need to get that "extra optional stuff" after the initial purchase? It's hard to blame EA; this kind of thing is considered acceptable by the majority of their buyers. You can still market the game the same, and ratings will stay roughly the same, but you have a higher percentage of people paying extra money if you give them a reason to pay extra money. It's simple. That's paystores. F2P lives off of this mechanic, entire games rely on it EXCLUSIVELY (EG: pay more to grind less, WoT, WT, lots of upcoming F2Ps), and paystores work because of it. I'm sorry, but it's for that reason that I don't see a whole lot of room for discussion here.
I couldn't care less about emotions. Same goes for social interactions. I might be the most unsocial Sims player of all time because I always play with one Sim but my goal is to make this one Sim perfect (in Sims 3 there's enough progress stuff to "finish" the game 100% (gaining all skills, collecting all artifacts, discovering all hidden islands, getting all lifetime rewards, ...)). That's why Generations is my most hated Sims expansion. It hardly adds anything to the game. And now this emotions shit is the main gameplay feature ... but I can see myself buying it anyway. I wonder if they cut back on the listed gameplay features as well like they did with the pools and toddlers.
Watch_Dogs excuses and long-term, series spanning paystores have nothing in common. I've done my best to explain how it works and you refuse to believe me as a poster. No sense bothering any more.
Like if someone takes a shit on your porch in the morning you'll be in a grouchy emotion all day. However you can do stuff to go back to normal. I can see how it adds more depth and I guess it'll give you more to do.
You just described moodlets though, which have been in the Sims 3 since it came out.
Watch_Dogs? What does that have to do with anything? All the problems with that game are the result of bad game design and cutting graphical features for the PC version that shouldn't have been cut. I refuse to believe you because you're making claims based purely on your blind hate for EA, there's no logic involved in your posts. Seriously, do you work for EA, are you seeing them cut parts of the game off to sell later first-hand? If not stop posting.
You basically quoted the excuse for day one launch DLC, which was talked about constantly on FP recently in WD. hahahahaha ok buddy. I truly hate EA, yup! that's why I'm explaining paystores and F2P and business motives to you in general terms that don't exclusively apply to the sims!
They might as well put merge all the EA games coming out recently, because they keep pushing this "emotion" shit on all of them.
