Being told that there is no free disk space when using a completely empty !TB hard drive

I don't why it is doing this, but my mac has been telling me this for the past day

My other user is just fine and dandy and doesn't get this problem, but the user I am using right now gets this.

What is my problem here?

What privileges does this user have? In the settings it may be restricted from saving to HD or something..
