Shack News kind of sucks.
It's a bot, it doesn't know if the news already got here. And it's given us a LOT more news than other news sources
I liked RockPaperShotgun, so I RSS'ed them. I almost did the same with CSNation, but RPS did well enough. Most reasons people complain about the news bots are silly; FP will never keep a bot for long, it seems.
I reckon get rid of BBC and put RPS back in
"good will" as in trying to make me pay for things i already paid for.
I get why they'd do this and honestly don't think dota should be trademarked by Valve.
Seriously, Blizzard pretty much has the rights to dota, it was made in Warcraft III and they're completely right when they say that they are associated with the mod.

That's not how it works. For the same reason Blizzard doesn't have any rights to any of the names I used for maps in Warcraft III.

No they don't. They can't own the title "DOTA" just because some mod developers named their mod that.
I don't see how they have a case here.
Fuck RPS, anything is better than their humorless humor.
The early bird gets the worm. Bugger off Blizzard.
"Valve has no rights in or to the DOTA mark," Blizzard insists. "Valve has never released, distributed, or sold any products using the mark DOTA, or, for that matter, any of the DOTA Marks. Valve did not coin the DOTA mark and has never participated in the creation of the DotA Mods."
Isn't that kind of the point of trademarking something?
Blizzard just wants a piece of the cake because they just didn't realize to get up their asses and develop a game themselves.
I love how blizzard says that valve didn't release any DOTA titles
Well you didn't either so get your head out of your ass

Lol, no.
Pretty sure the DOTA guys actually asked Blizzard if they wanted to hire them and have the rights to DOTA, and Blizzard turned them down. Valve caught wind of it and was all over that shit.
That's like saying Epic owns the rights to Red Orchestra because it was a mod for Unreal Tournament 2K4.
But Icefrog doesn't even have the rights to DOTA himself, or shouldn't, because he stole the original DOTA from its creator and took all the credit.
it's a mod that Blizzard had JACK ALL to do with.
Hope they lose big time.

Why are you spewing nonsensical lies?
valve fanboyism at it's worst, it's blizzard who spawned dota they should get the rights

So does Valve own every game made using the source engine?
I guess Team Fortress 2 belongs to ID then, since the original TF was a quake mod.

Would you say the same if the situation was turned around?
I don't think Valve should be the only developer giving their shot at DOTA

Yes I would, but it isn't the other way around now is it.
i think blizzard is just butthurt because they're making their own dota map for starcraft 2 and didnt think to trademark it first
Fucks sake.
I like DoTA but I preferred other custom games on WC3.
I'm waiting for one of these games, I don't care if it's HoN or DoTA2 to offer the custom map ability.
I bought HoN expressedly cause it said it'd have a map editor, and now, 3 years on, it still hasn't got custom game functionality.
Fuck, I'd pay like £50 for it as well.
if i were you id just get sc2 and enjoy the custom maps on there
[editline]11th February 2012[/editline]
its basically hundreds of free games in one purchase
[editline]11th February 2012[/editline]
well 3 purchases really if you are going to get the future expansions

Warcraft 4... If only... IF....
Ah, who am i kidding. There will never be a warcraft 4 :suicide:
Whats funny is that you don't know the full story. In WC3's EULA, it said all data, art, etc. is property of Blizzard Entertainment including custom maps and mods
