PC turning itself off

Help me, my PC is shutting itself off. usually during or after playing a game, it does it.
The power light is still on though, the hard drive light is off.
Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHZ
2GB RAM
Nvidia 9800 GT
Windows XP Pro SP2

Usually when the GPU heats up, your PC becomes slow as fuck when playing games or videos.
It happened to me once, had to get a 2nd fan.
