• Really odd computer/internet problems.

If anyone can help me with this, I will suck your penis. The problem: I will try and make this as clear as possible, but it's difficult. So I recently moved into my college dorm with my windows vista running computer. Ever since then I have had to do multiple things to make my computer "compatible" with the college internet access. At first I had to download a log in system, which only gave me limited access to the internet. What this limited access means besides a two hour time limit, I'm not exactly sure; but what it did end up doing to my computer was giving me extreme problems with websites such as facebook and gmail, such as being extremely slow, not loading the entire page and doing odd things such as sending my message when I didn't want it to etc. However, facepunch works as fast as ever and loading youtube videos gives me few problems. For games such as CSS, it would only load approx. 100 servers, giving me latency between 0-700 on the servers, and when I attempted to connect to one of the server it would say it was offline etc. So, I then went on and installed the required internet protection software from the school (Symatic) and ran that. This was SUPPOSED to take away the restricted access on the internet, however it did not. I was given a bypass on the log-in system (I'll get the name for this as soon as I can) and was allowed to uninstall the software from my computer, so I supposedly do not have the problem anymore. But I do. Another recent development is that my sound is also crackly etc., which is extremely odd. I HAVE RUN AN ANTIVIRUS SCAN MULTIPLE TIMES SO IT IS NOT A VIRUS. My theory: It is not the internet. My roommate does not have any of these problems (however he is on a mac) and he is using the same internet I am. Also, I have attempted connect via lan cable and multiple wireless networks and still have the same problem. I ran a speed test on the internet and both the download and the upload speeds were EXTREMELY good. The anti-virus software has since been uninstalled, so I do not believe it has anything to do with that. Most likely it is the log-in shit that was given to me and the bypass just isn't doing anything, however I have no idea on how to remedy this situation. Please help me. [editline]01:54PM[/editline] Anyone
Update network drivers, get a newer browser like FireFox, EE8. Normaly, the sites are just slow. But if they take way to long to load. Update your drivers, and get a newer browser.
browser is newest version of firefox and i just got the computer a few months ago so the drivers are probably okay but i'll try that thanks. [editline]03:53PM[/editline] yeah drivers seem fine
Then check how fast your connection is as in kbs or mbps. Normaly its the speed of that thats causing a slow connection.
i have, and it was extremely fast. i don't think it's the internet that is the problem, more the computer. [editline]09:14PM[/editline] like i mentioned, parts of the internet work really well, and others such as email and facebook work horribly, with more problems than just being slow.
I think it is more of a school server side problem than your computer.
Could be that too.
No, like i said, unless it's a problem with all school PC's, my roommates computer (which is an apple) has been working perfectly. I'll ask someone with a PC if they're having a problem, but I bet you the school IT guys who I contacted earlier would have known if something was amiss with the servers. [editline]11:43PM[/editline] Another thing that i may not have emphasized enough: the internet is not only slow, but it will load wrong or open/send something that I did not click on. It's acting like their is a virus/a bad driver, but i have checked both of those and it doesn't seem to be the case. [editline]11:44PM[/editline] All of this only started to happen when I downloaded the schools software/started using their internet [editline]11:45PM[/editline] the internet on my ipod is working perfectly as well

There might have been set rules up so Facebook and games are not prioritised in the packets being sent around, hence you might end up losing some, because someone is using the internet for something more important.
i suppose
