Trying to install .Net redistributable causes my PC to go crazy

Well, basically when I try to install the .Net redistributable thing go really crazy.
I'll list stuff that happens here:
-Title bars go all scrambled (Something like it doesn't render the background gradient for it)
-Text goes haywire (Appears, disappears)
-Random errors when trying to do stuff
-Graphics appear and disappear too
-Can't run programs unless lucky

These symptoms do not appear before trying to install the framework, and after a reset things go back to normal.
Seriously, can anyone tell me what in the name of porridges is going on?
This computer has a fresh install of Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3.
I've done a virus scan and no virus has been found.

Seriously, this is starting to anger me.

I wasn't.

Anyways, I fixed it by removing the older version, now it's installing correctly. I shouldn't be doing computer repairs at 12 PM. When I'll get that memo, this is ALWAYS a bad idea to do stuff when you're willing to sleep.
