Wouldn't it be more appropriate to come up with an alien-themed name for the "GOTY" edition? I mean, the whole "You're the president" thing only lasted for the first half hour of the game [sp]before the Earth gets blown up[/sp].

Because Saint's Row is cray-ay-ayzy!
I wished that they nerfed the super powers, because of the fact that they're really strong practically made vehicles useless.
I guess I can't go wrong when waiting for SR having a complete edition with everything.
Makes me glad I didn't get Saints Row 4 during the Steam Sale. though I thought they'd wait until August since that would be a year since release.
Bought Saint's Row 4 for $10 and then got most of the DLC with my steam bux.
No regrets, it's the most fun I've had with a game in years.
I really fucking dislike the superpowers.
Great, sure, it's a great gameplay mechanic. But why is it in Saints Row?

90% of the game I am guessing takes place in a computer simulation. In addition to the whole "WOAH!!! THATS WACKY!!!" quota, I guess its a matter of "if YOU realized you were living a simulation and could manipulate it to a degree, wouldn't you want super powers?" perhaps?

Helps the game stand out against its main competitor (Grand Theft Auto). GTA has the whole satire-of-life angle down to a science, so it's probably for the best that Saint's Row took any pretense of realism and tossed it right out the window.

It doesn't make much sense in the context of the franchise, but they at least did it right.
They're fun as hell to play with and they're integrated well so they don't feel tacked on like I expected them to.
Say what you want about the direction the franchise took but Saints Row IV was one of the funnest games I played last year.
Should have added a bonus mission where the Zin try to steal the Declaration of Independence.

I'd be willing to argue that Saints Row has long ago evolved from a simple GTA competitor and has since become a parody of the video gaming industry as a whole. Which I think is a good thing because if it stuck to it's roots it'd never grow out of GTA's shadow, while now it has an identity of it's own.

To be fair, I think the whole idea of being the leader of and customizing a street gang could have been a successful concept itself. If the whole gang customization/management and territory wars was really fleshed out, I think that'd make a great game.
That being said I've had a ton of fun with Saints Row IV as it is. I just think they could have had success with their original direction as well.
I can understand being disappointed with the series new direction, I'll agree that superpowers made a bunch of features in the game worthless...
But I feel sorry for anyone who can honestly say they didn't at least have a fun time with SR4. I didn't even care much for The Third- the things you could do were silly and fun, but the humor more often than not fell flat. But 4 was spot on. Calling it "randumb" is stupid. For a game about being the superpowered president of the United States fighting aliens in a computer simuation, it was surprisingly intelligent and witty with it's humor.
Saints Row 4 is a great game with lots of fun. It's nice to see a developer to put a series to rest then continue to grind out more prequels and sequels. Also I am actually playing it right now trying to get 100%.
I loved saints row 4, it was so much better than 3, but my biggest complaint is that they used the same shitty city from saints row 3. They could have done a lot more with the "alien computer simulation" idea, but all they really did was add those big towers. I feel like I remember them talking about how the city was going to feel a lot more vertical, but it didn't really feel anything like that in my experience.
I can brush off the recycling of the SR3 assets, but they should've at least made a new map. Hell, having even Stilwater instead of Steelport probably would've made more sense in the story.
Phew, I was tempted to buy Saints row 4 during the summer sale but glad I didn't.
was tempted to get the dlc pack, glad I didn't!
I loved SR4, it was pretty good. Had "meh" expectations before, it was the same ol' map from SR3 and it kinda looked like a bit of an expansion rather than a new game. Turns out it absolutely wasn't. Sure, the map was the same, but the superpowers and extra content and what not's really awesome.

People keep complaining that vehicles were made useless, but I customize and drive vehicles quite a bit. Not to get around to places, but just because there's a lot of fun vehicles to use. But I guess as far as strictly transportation goes, they are kinda useless.

I said Saints Row for a reason. Namely, how they weren't in the first fucking three games minus the Third's DLC.

IMO the main competitor changed to Prototype or some shit. SR4 is nothing like GTA anymore.

Exactly. I'd like this type of game, I just didn't want it as the conclusion of Saints Row.
Well there's no doubt there'll be another Saints Row game. And I just seriously doubt it'll feature super powers. It wouldn't make much sense. Did you get trapped in a simulation again?
Maybe they'll find a completely new direction to go in. I don't think they'll do super powers again, and it's hard to up the crazy once you've hit that point.

Well, if by "Vertical", they meant "You'll probably have to keep running up building walls to stay in the air while gliding", they certainly hit that nail on the head. Too bad you couldn't legitimately fly. Flying is more fun than gliding.
[sp]remember, the end of SR4 had you get a supersuit that lets you use the super powers outside of the simulation, so it's not impossible[/sp]
though I agree SR5's probably gonna be way different
Though if it goes in the direction that[sp]the ending may have been suggesting, timetravel[/sp]sounds like it could be as rad as fuck.
A possible idea for the possible next saints(sr4 kinda ended the series) game could be an alternative universe like zelda where saints never arrived in steelport and stayed in stilwater.
Can't wait till its on humble bundle
THQ bundle was the best bundle ever. That's how I got Saints Row 3.
"steelport is a lot more vertical this time around. we removed the tallest buildings and replaced them with a building you can't reach the top of"
