Guess I'll give it a go. I'm on my HD5750 instead of my 7850, but the bottleneck for me was always CPU so if the GPU is suddenly the bottleneck I would say there is a noticeable increase in optimization
Can anyone confirm? I am not redownloading this entire game just to find out.
Reports from the test server are very positive. I rarely had performance issues in the first place, but I still noticed a huge boost.

this first optimization patch is almost completelt focused on said CPU bottleneck. People with quad or more cores will (or should) notice the biggest performance issue. As far as I know from running around on the test server a little bit, I can certainly say they actually fixed their shit.
Looks like the Master Race wins again.

This is the real deal. Played it on the test server quite a bit and I'm able to sit pretty comfortably at around 50-60fps in big battles. Before the patch I'd be jumping between 30-45, sometimes lower. Anything outside of a big fight (Less than say 60-70 players) and I'm well above 60fps, often over 100.
There was a guy the other day saying he went from 5fps in any significant fight to 30fps on a pretty low end machine.
The full patch notes show just how much they've improved with this patch:

This shit gets old.
It works really well for me. I'm maintaining a constant 60-70 FPS on ultra. Even in Biolabs.
Although, Alt-Tabbing seems to kill some frames.
it still runs like shit for me
maybe someday i'll get a new PC instead of this three-year old laptop and i'll be able to play a game on something besides low
Was good for me before but now it is silky smooth.

Specs? I am running a 580 with 3570k and I am have around 40-50 fps exterior.
I'm running a GTX460 and AND Phenom II X4.
When i switched to the X4 over my Core 2 Quad Core, I immediatly jumped in frames and was able to increase the settings.
I'll post as soon as I'm able to test it.
Im downloading this game for the first time on my new computer so ill let yall know how it is. Im running with a i5 haswell with gtx 760
Oh good maybe now I can actually play this. I'm running with a FX 8350 and HD 7850, hope it runs good.
Played an hour long siege at Dahaka Amp Station with 100+ players, rarely dipped below 50fps on high. Gonna try ultra next.
Oh boy, so now I can render all 200 Vanu tanks and MAXes that are camped outside my spawn without lagging
SLI Support plox.
It's about time, this game fell of the face of the earth for me simply because the performance made me lose all interest.
The game is pretty meh either way.
Just because it's big doesn't mean it's good.
I wish it was just a monthly fee and no pay2unlock garbage

This is one of the games where I actually feel like this statement has merit. A lot of times people claim that F2P games have all these pay to win gameplay benefits when they're really minor but it's terrible in PS2. The basic rocket launcher and other weapons are about as effective against vehicles as a tooth pick and all the ones that are any good need massive tonnes of certs to buy. It's still a fun game to play but I wish they'd get rid of this crap and give everyone at least a functional weapon of each type to start even if the pay to win ones are still better
I've been playing it with decent FPS for ages
In my honest opinion it's genuinely a pretty shitty game without any real soul, just incredibly addicting; kind of like Call of Duty in that aspect actually. Awful community, too.
I'm thinking it JUST MIGHT get better now that they're drawing some people back with optimization and they can put a bit of focus on actually bringing in new content; but I doubt it.
I just like the huge scale of this game, and it's something different from the gray shooters. It can certainly use improvements to balance and stuff, and that might take a while to get right sadly enough.

I think that it's an alright system, but either the cert gain needs to nearly double, or the cert costs for weapons needs to drop. 1000 Certs to unlock a single weapon, for one vehicle, for one faction. That's a bit much
Anyway, my bottleneck is the GPU now, no longer the CPU. Optimizations are great. I was hitting upwards of 40fps in a large fight even on my HD5750. Once I get tired of Guild Wars 2, I'll pop my 7850 back in and play it in all its glory

I don't know how long it's been since you've both played, but a lot of weapons had significant reductions to cert costs. There are tons of 250 cert weapons, including shotguns and lockon rocket launchers. There are hardly any 1000 cert weapons anymore. This happened like 6 months ago.

Most of the vehicle weapons are 1000 Certs, except for the bad ones no one uses. 7 of the weapons for Heavy Assault cost 1000 certs. One costs $14 and another $20 if you pay. It's ridiculous

It's not quite that bad, especially for infantry, most of the default weapons are decent. Some of them are the better weapons for their classes. The MSW-R is the weapon of choice for a lot of the guys in my outfit while playing heavy, and it's only 100 certs.
The default rocket launcher isn't bad either compared to the other dumbfire launcher. It does a little less damage (1700 compared to 2000), but has a higher velocity, faster reload speed and more ammo. It's nice to have a lock-on, but I always switch to a dumbfire in close-quarters.
New players also get a choice of an extra weapon or two based on their preferred class when they start now.
Vehicles are a little different, the Rocketpods are definitely going to score you more kills. Although the default setup isn't bad at all, it just requires you to be a good pilot to make use of the afterburners (I personally fly with the fuel tanks when going A2A rather than Missiles).

The $14 and $20 one are identical to the normal $7/1000 cert one, they just have gold/black skins. As I mentioned above, at least for TR the MSW-R is one of the best heavy assault weapons you can get and it's only 100 certs.

I've been playing since the tech test days and I can pretty much say this is completely wrong
All the default weapons are good. All of them. The only difference between the other weapons is that they tend to be better in certain situations and players know how to take advantage of those situations. There are some unlocks that are actually worse too.
That said the balance tables are much better for guns and stuff, not as good for rocket launchers. The TR's empire speciific rocket launcher is so much better than the other factions simply because it shoots 5 low damage lock on rockets - and since everyone uses the striker it means everyone gets pelted with low damage rockets that are hard to avoid.
I'd probably say the majority of my deaths are from people with default weapons simply because they aren't bad and they are common. I don't die a lot more from people with bought weapons or anything, they just work different. A few outstanding items in the balance department doesn't make the whole game pay to win at all, especially since every gameplay related item can be gotten with certs not $$$ (even if its stupid expensive)
I might get into this again. I'm playing on a laptop, which is really good, but I just expected something this large scale to run like crap. But with all these awesome improvements I might just download.
