Hello Facepunch,
I need your help on finding a new GPU to replace my old, but trusty 8600GT.
I have a few requests 'tho:
1. It must be under 100€ (note €).
2. I don't have the money for a new PSU so it should run on my 400W PSU (it's not much, but it's all I have atm).
3. It should be powerful enough to run new games on medium-high such as Mafia 2 which I'm planning to buy if I find a new GPU.
I have no idea if there even is a GPU like that, but I'm hopeful none the less.
What brand is the PSU?
[QUOTE=thf;24216228]What brand is the PSU?[/QUOTE]
I think it's an ATX.
And also I have no idea about these things so I probably post some pretty retarded stuff. :v:
-snip-
GT240 can run Metro 2033 med-high (not very high) and it's pretty cheap

What I meant is the company that manufactured the PSU, should say it on some sticker or something on the PSU
Do you have at least a dual core CPU? What resolution do you game at?

Seems like a good option.

It says Allied.

I have an AMD Anthlon 2.7GHz dual core processor and sadly I am forced to use a 1024x768 resolution most of the time, because otherwise the game is unplayable.
I think you missed my point on the resolution question. What are looking to be able to use with a new videocard? Are you planning to stay at 1024x768 or are you looking to increase that?

Hurr
[editline]12:02AM[/editline]
What is your maximal screen resolution, OP?
[editline]12:05AM[/editline]
Because I can only see the HD 4850 for your need
[editline]12:05AM[/editline]
And yeah the PSU seems to be a bit suspicious. I don't trust this thing.
[QUOTE=ADT;24219752]Hurr[/QUOTE]
Well, 1280x1024 high around 30-40fps

uhh

If possible increase it.

It's 1920x1080.
HD 4850 can help a bit, but for your maximal screen resolution, it's the HD4890/GTX 460/5850/GTX 470 that you really need.
[editline]11:03AM[/editline]
You have to save up more money sadly.
Yeah GTX460, but I'm not sure his PSU will handle it
Yeah the PSU seems to be a real piece of shit. I had problems with bad PSU before (like crashes, freezing often during gameplay, etc...), so you can't neglige this kind of component easily.

Well let's say I went with the HD4850. Would my PSU handle that?
Technically yes, but like I said above your post, and it could kill your new graphic card (and others components) without warning. You must get an OCZ / Antec/ Corsair PSU before choosing on a graphic card (or any other components).
Enermax, makes good PSU's too :colbert:
Yep, they are good but are expensive like Seasonic generally.
What's up with the disagrees? Sure they're expensive, but they're quality, too.

Oh well. Guess I'll just have to save up more money for a new PSU + graphics card.
Thanks for the replies everyone.

Site's in Finnish but the description isn't so I don't think you'll be confused.
I think that power supply will manage it

lol disagrees
Tigerdirect has a 9800GT for 50 USD, only needs a 350W PSU. (like fuck if i know how to convert USD to €)
This card is originally 110 USD, so get it while it lasts.
