This game would be good if it wasn't completely pay to win.
Gas Powered Games.

They were given the task to continue updating. Robot Entertainment decided to just finish it and hand over the torch.

Isn't Robot Entertainment pretty much just Ensemble Studios? I remember reading how pretty much everyone from Ensemble went to join Robot.
I saw "Age of Empires Online ends" and got excited, I was sorely disappointed.
now we just need a proper AoE game, done like AoE2, not AoE3, not that AoE3 is bad, its just that AoE2 was far better gameplay wise

Except it's not. The pvp mode that the majority of the people are playing doesn't allow any consumables/items that you can buy with money.
I saw "Age of Empires Online ends" and got excited, I was sorely disappointed.
Do you realize that you just said, paraphrased, "People shouldn't be able to do something if I don't like it"? Because that's kinda fucked up.
I totally forgot about AoEo, gotta try it out.
I totally forgot about AoEo, gotta try it out.
Without a premium civ it's kinda annoying, although that is a one time purchase. It's also a good idea to have a friend to co-op through the campaign with, some of it is just unreasonable :v:
Just played this but i raged so fastly because the quest are very hard. and elite missions are 1% unbalanced.
Just played this but i raged so fastly because the quest are very hard. and elite missions are 1% unbalanced.
Were you playing the greek mission where you have 30 seconds to build a base from scratch until waves of 30+ elite soldiers swarm your base? Spoiler on how to beat missions similar to that one (was the tactic me and a friend used):[sp]Start with a friend, strategy is insanely hard to do alone. Play mission once to see where enemies come from, and gauge their effectiveness. Have your friend rush a tower out there, if possible a castle is much better. If not, put a tower and then work on a castle behind it. Have your friend micro a fast moving unit like a scout around enemies, so that they follow but they (hopefully) don't get hit. Try to keep them at, or in front, of the tower while the castle is worked on. I have an HP regen item I found in a quest on my scout for this reason. Once you have the castle up and some basic units to ruin siege machines, farm hard and start building an army for your inevitable conflict. Try to get a solid group of archers, if possible, to ambush one of the groups your scout is kiting around. Eventually, assuming you farm hard enough (farm hard), your army's late game effectiveness should be able to match the enemies and eventually defeat them with your superior non-AI intelligence. Once you've made it past the first ambush, you can have your friend do something like make 300 farms and market resources to send to you[/sp]
I hope they come out with an Age of Mythology 2 sometime
AoM was at least as good as AoE2, as well as being the only good 3D game in the series
Age of Empires Online is cartoon styled over-simplified shite, even more of a step backwards than AoE3

No I didn't, I said "In my opinion age of empires online deserves to die because it's a horrid game."
It's literally the older games but worse, what's the appeal?
No I didn't, I said "In my opinion age of empires online deserves to die because it's a horrid game."It's literally the older games but worse, what's the appeal?
That's exactly it, it's the same fucking thing. People are playing it, although not many, and despite it not affecting you you're hoping it shuts down? Pretty huge dick attitude. As for the appeal? The equipping items with different effects to units is a neat form of customization and the campaign (at least the Greek one I've done a lot of) are fun. That and AOE2 is so god damn old it has issues connecting on a LAN. It's also the only RTS I've played with a co-op campaign, though there's probably others.

It killed the age of empires franchise, it does effect me.
Why does everyone hate AoE 3 so much?
They need another Age of Mythology so I can hear "Prostagma" from my villages in 1080p
Why does everyone hate AoE 3 so much?
It's not a bad game it's just not as good as AoE2
Why does everyone hate AoE 3 so much?
I liked it.
Why does everyone hate AoE 3 so much?
It was a very different style from AoE 1-2 and AoM, so the fans of those games were generally a little dissapointed, and you could very easily argue that it is a bad AoE game because of that.
That said it is a very good game in it's own right.
I wanted to try this but couldn't even enter the game because of the GFWL bullshit.
AOE3 was awesome, especially when you played with friends and spammed the button which said "I need food".
The game had alot of potentional, but they ruined it and turned it into a P2W format.
I honestly liked many aspects of AOE3 a lot more than AOE2, but there was something about AOE2 that made it last longer, I don't know what it is.
I snagged a "premium bundle" for cheap on a steam sale once. I enjoy it but it's definitely P2W.
This game was loads of fun with a coop partner, doing all the campaigns and missions together.
It really is pay to win though, or you're at a major, major disadvantage.

hey they made supreme commander which was a pretty interesting game
