I wanna know if i can run the two video card together, i got this computer exactly 1 year ago with the 8400GS, and only now i remembred that i got a GeForce 7600 from 2 years ago (that was bought accidently, i thought i had PCI-E, but i had AGP and i couldnt use it).
I think not since its different video cards / series.
I heard of double 8400GS or double GeForce 9800GTX, but never heard of different series' working together.
I just want to improve my gaming, so each one will take half of the screen.
Just answer quickly, cus if it is possible i wanna do it in the next 2 hours.
I think (not sure) that in order to do this, you need two same cards with a link technology (like Nvidia's SLI or ATI's CrossFireX).
Well on the box of the 7600 it says SLi Ready
but im not sure about the 8400GS, but i think since 8400 is a later series than 7600, maybe it already is included with it too. (i dont have box of anything from the computer, so i cant really tell what it has or doesnt)
Sorry, if you want to sli both cards need to be the same model.
You can run them side by side, but can't sli them.
If you want improved gaming, upgrade your graphics card. Since you can't SLI them.

Wouldn't it look quite strange if half of the screen lagged and the other one didn't?

OP, upgrade your graphics card, I heard you were gonna upgrade to a 9800GTX, don't. Budget?
5770/4870/4890
Though his PSU may be shit... Ain't the 7600GT better than the 8400GS? Never looked none of em up, never needed too.

Pretty sure it is
You cannot SLI 2 different nvidia cards (unless its a 8800 and a 9800)
And a 7600GT is way faster then a 8400.

Hmm thanks. i'll try to switch to the 7600, altough it looks much slower, it has DDR III Memory, 7600GS-Turbo, 256MB/128bit (no idea what it means, it just appears on the box like a feature of the video card.)
Ill test the card on STALKER Clear Sky, now im running the game with my 8400GS on 1024x768 (i got a shitty CRT screen, blame the technician who dissappeared with my 19" screen a year ago) all on medium and lightning on full dynamic.
So: now i put the new GPU, installed drivers, and it flickered a bit on 85Hertz 1024 x 768 desktop, now i put it to 75 Hertz, and i went to STALKER CS, Then i had some bug that it minimizes the game at the opening game scene, and now i have put the game settings on high, and still full dynamic lightning, since theres no auto detect option i cant know if this GPU is better then the previous :(
Edit2: STALKER Plays better on this one :)
thanks.
Actually, although you can't SLI/Crossfire different series cards currently, do a google search for "Lucid Hydra".
SLI/Crossfire between different generations? Yes please.
SLI/Crossfire between different brands? Yes please!

depends whether they stopped it sucking yet
last I checked using 2 roughly equal cards you ended up with the same if not worse performance than just using one
