This is a game that's entirely story based, essentially to experience it YOURSELF, a Co-op would be stupid.

I have no issue with this if say, it is a stand alone squad based shooter bit where you and three friends fight waves of husks / reapers etc on the ground on earth as a sort of prequel. It could work...

Co-Op horror games cannot work because once you throw in another person the game looses all sense of dread. Look at RE5, decent game but whatever pretense it had as a 'horror' game was lost once you realised that you were stuck with a partner for the entire thing.

Honestly, I'm all for more co-op games, it's my favourite type of games.
But Mass Effect? No, not Mass Effect.
I'm pretty sure in one of the interviews, they said "no, we are only doing singleplayer, those are just rumors". And now here everyone is again taking rumors as facts.

yeah just a heads up coop is separate from singleplayer so atmosphere is irrelevant
ME3 is pretty much a shooter first, rpg second now so might as well completely embrace the change
