Hi, I'm looking to eventually upgrade my computer over the summer and I had a few questions.
I currently have an AMD 720 X3 would upgrading to a 965 be even worth it? Thinking about it now, it doesn't seem much worth it and if so should I just save up for an i5/mobo?
I also have a 4870 that I'm looking to upgrade. Do you think a 7770 would be a good budget gpu to upgrade to?
,
upgrading your CPU to a 965 is kind of pointless as it's a dead socket, also there's not much performance difference between the 4870 and 7770, maybe 25% at the most in games
What is your budget anyway?
Yeah for the CPU wait untill haswell is realeased (week or so) and buy that. Dont upgrade an ancient cpu with an old one.
For the GPU. The 7770 is ok ish but I would advice moving a bit higher up to an Nvidia 650TI or 7850 if you are on a budget.
AMD 7770-->Nvidia 650TI -->AMD 7850-->AMD 7870-->Nvidia GTX560

I'd say around $400? I plan on saving up throughout the summer though. I'll wait to until haswell is released so I can get an idea of how much I should save up for. 650TI/7850 pricewise look fine.

I do believe that when NVidia releases the GTX 760, it will be around your current budget.
