I got verizon DSL a couple months ago, and what im paying for is around 700kbps speed(I forget the exact number) but im only downloading at 124kbps, how can I increase my speed to what it should be?
What you pay for =/= what you get. You pay for "Up to x mb/s" which means they could supply you with 10 kbps and they wouldn't care.
Also, do a speed test for reliable results. Downloading from websites does not show your true speed, because many servers cap their upload speed per client.
I had problems with Verizon when I had them. I called them and complained that I wasn't getting the speed I was promised, and they came and did a few things and my download speed increased. (I wasn't paying for much to begin with, but I appreciated every little bit of speed I could get my hands on.)
Give that a shot, if you're not satisfied, take a look at another ISP or just deal with it.
