Can this laptop handle Windows 7?

So, my bro's getting a new laptop and is giving me his old one.

I'm going to reformat it and wonder if I should reinstall XP or install the W7 RC.

Specs:
Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.00GHz
Ati Mobility Radeon 9700
768MB of RAM
80GB HDD

So, can it handle Windows 7 or not?

Sure, i understand Win7 needs lower specs than Vista

It will run Windows 7, however if possible I would recommend increasing the RAM to give some more headroom and smooth out the performance. Other than that, the computer should be fine.

You could always revert to Windows XP if it doesn't work out. Test out it's performance before committing to using Windows 7 just to be safe.

Unfortunately the RAM is extended already (from 512MB to 768MB) and I don't think it goes higher than that.
