Rip in piece Tribes franchise. May you not be pooped on like this in the future.
So much potential just thrown out by them. Sad story.
at least tribes stands as a monument of how not to make a free to play game
HUUR HURR WE MAKE MOBA NOW
HUUR HURR WE MAKE MOBA NOW
oh yeah i forgot about that i guess the entirety of hi-rez will be an example of how to be a bad f2p developer
It's a shame, I used to love Tribes
They say that they added a lot of guns ,and newer items, and maps (lol) but what about the vehicles? What about flares etc. There is A LOT of stuff that they didn't implement, and never will because "lol mobas".
Instead of implementing extra shit maybe they should unbreak CTF
clearly the most logical solution is to turn Tribes into a MOBA
If i remember they said somewhere that they will be making a Tribes:Ascend 2 . Not sure about that though.
A game dev shitting all over a unique fun game like Tribes to divert resources towards developing a F2P fantasy MOBA sounds like a fucking parody.
The fact that they dropped a pretty unique game that was really enjoyable to jump on the MOBA bandwagon makes me quite sad. Tribes Ascend was hella fun, but it seems to be dying because of the lack of updates.
If i remember they said somewhere that they will be making a Tribes:Ascend 2 . Not sure about that though.
And Global Agenda 2, because god forbid they fuck up a sequel to an already fucked game as well.
If i remember they said somewhere that they will be making a Tribes:Ascend 2 . Not sure about that though.
They said that TA2 is more likely than a major update to TA1.
Man, fuck Hi-Rez I'll never give them another penny

It sucks for Hi-Rez too they had a game that went VIRAL which is such a goldmine from a marketing perspective. They had a dedicated fanbase that loved what they did with the franchise (at first) and a budding new fanbase. But they traded that for some no-name MOBA that no one cares about
I will never understand this logic. Mod tools practically immortalize a game and bring more life to the modding community. Just look at Half-Life 1&2, there are still mods being made for those, and HL2 is almost 10 years old!
I am sometimes captivated by the horrible business decisions they make at Hi-Rez. Sometimes it feels like they operate outside the bounds of logic.
Rest in peace you fast son of a bitch, you where nothing but the best. Quite sad how Hi-Rez kills yet another ip and a real good one.

Hi-Rez is obviously only interested in following trends. That Global Agenda game was supposed to be this super unique MMO. Then that got completely dropped for Tribes when the f2p and fps market was really booming. Now it's all about MOBAs and so that's where they're going.
Wouldn't grow your studio? It'd win the respect of any well informed PC player. It'd win the respect of anyone that got fucked over with Global Agenda. It'd pretty much guarantee your game will be played in another ten years from now. It'd give your users more reason to pay to play your game since they won't be playing the same maps over and over and over again. What's the downside here? They'd need to spend a little time developing the tools and publishing the documentation on the wiki? Okay. I mean they've already developed the game, that's the hardest part. Now support it so you'll get more and more money from it.
Maybe that's the problem. Businesses don't want games that last forever.
But it's an F2P game with micro transactions, they should want the game to last as long as possible.
But it's an F2P game with micro transactions, they should want the game to last as long as possible.
It's an F2P game with micro transactions, they should want to be the only suppliers of content :v:
Maybe that's the problem. Businesses don't want games that last forever.
That kind of mindset is problematic, as they can always make more. Isn't it good that a company's game lasts forever? Wouldn't that mean that their fanbase adores them and their reputation has exploded into something that could make them remembered by all for years to come?
