Yeah and that's the same thing we heard from Hideo Kojima about MGS V. Thank you for treating us like second-class customers.
There's always that touch of irony when a FPS is console only.
Looks like we're destined for despair.
That's fine I'll just buy something else instead.
honestly doesn't sound like a good reason not to.
What a waste of a perfectly good game, and it's a fucking FPS.
Because money. I think its actually retarded that they would hold off on PC and put it on the last gen AND next gen consoles. Why don't they skip the last gen consoles and put it on PC? Because money.
honestly doesn't sound like a good reason not to.
A developer who's worked on nothing but a single console line for the past decade is now developing on three more consoles they've never worked with before, two of which are brand new to the industry, are concerned of stretching their workload too thin by pushing out a PC version along with it considering they're not as large a studio as they were under Microsoft and likely don't have the man power to pull off a port nicely without it falling into the "lol crap port pirated gg" category of PC games? And that's not a good reason? Hell if you read what he said, a PC version is not impossible, it'd just come later down the line. [editline]5th November 2013[/editline]
Why don't they skip the last gen consoles and put it on PC?
Because the last-gen consoles are going to be active for quite some time after the next-gen consoles come out because people either: A. Aren't interested in upgrading right away. B. Can't afford to upgrade right away. C. Play on PC primarily, but own a previous gen console and don't want to buy a next gen console to play the game. And as for
Because money.
Yes. They are a company. That's what they do.
It just feels weird, since Destiny sounds like a perfect PC game. And I believe there'd be a shit ton of buyers, since pirating a coop multiplayer game like this would be about as fun as pirating Dark Souls.

I don't know, for me it sounds most realistic to create the PC version first and port to the other consoles later on. I'm not programmer or game designer, so I've no clue how it works but for me it sounds like the smartest thing to do.

With a PC there are so many different hardware configurations that you have to make sure the game is optimized and compatible with all of them. With 4 consoles, there are only 4 different hardware configurations you have to adapt to, which is difficult enough if your team is too small. I agree with Bungie, adding the complexity of developing for a PC on top of all that would just hurt the quality of all versions.
Bungie spent literally the entire past decade being a single platform dev team. I'd imagine they're a bit overwhelmed as it is developing for 4 platforms at once, especially when three of those platforms are ones they've never even worked on before, and the latter two have radically different architectures from the first two, and have a 50% power difference between eachother.
I find it hilarious nowadays that a developer makes the game using a PC, but can't run it on one.

So a game that's developed for x86 AMD jaguar parts couldn't be ported to PC?
I find it hilarious nowadays people don't understand this isn't how it works at all.

That's not how it actually works.
So you really think they're just doing all of their coding and modeling directly onto the dev kit? NOTHING is done on a computer at all? You're kidding me, right? Yes, each one has a specific hardware environment that varies from console to console, and obviously things break, but to make it sound as if developing for PC is as impossible as they do is plain wrong. Considering the bulk of the work likely happens on a computer in the first place, it definitely isn't as impossible as it sounds.
Anything that runs on PS4/Xbone has no excuse to not run any other platform, apart from publisher/ms/sony greed
Yes. They are a company. That's what they do.
It's still annoying when a company prioritizes making even more profit over customer satisfaction.
It's still annoying when a company prioritizes making even more profit over customer satisfaction.
(In the long run customer satisfaction works to make more profit, look at Valve)
It's still annoying when a company prioritizes making even more profit over customer satisfaction.
But Bungie's pretty solid at customer satisfaction. Every iteration of their games, or patches always took a lot of feedback from fans on what they wanted fixed. And they've always been very active in their community. They try to make money, sure, but they don't moneygrub. Saying they focus on profit over customer satisfaction because they aren't making a PC port is silly. [editline]5th November 2013[/editline]
(In the long run customer satisfaction works to make more profit, look at Valve)
Yeah because valve's never done a thing to try and scum profit off of people.
Not even post-release bungie? Pleeeeease?
Not even post-release bungie? Pleeeeease?
They never denied it. They just said they wouldn't do it at the same time as console launches.
Osborne reportedly acknowledged the possibility of a PC version, but was firm about it not being in development alongside the console ones. That means if a PC version ever does come, it will be quite a wait.
I love how a primarily Console developer is developing for consoles and not PC is somehow a travesty. Are you all really that fucking surprised!?
"It's a huge challenge to ship four platforms and a massive opportunity to reach a new audience,"
Do they mean Playstation owners? Otherwise, they're not expanding to a new audience, they're just picking up the same customers.
Oh whatever. Bungie has never been a friend of PC gamers.
